Great song from the 60's... just wanted to share it with you...

In The Year 2525 - Zager and Evans :

In the year 2525
If man is still alive.
If woman can survive, they may find.

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies.
Everything you think, do and say, is in the pill you took today.

In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes.
You won't find a thing to chew.
Nobody's gonna look at you.

In the year 5555
Your arms hanging limp at your sides.
Your legs got nothing to do.
Some machine doing that for you.

In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife.
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too.
From the bottom of a long glass tube. Whoa-oh

In the year 7510
If God's a-comin, he oughta make it by then.
Maybe he'll look around himself and say.
Guess it's time for the judgment day.

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head.
He'll either say.I'm pleased where man has been.
Or tear it down and start again. Whoa-oh

In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin if man is gonna be alive.
He's taken everything this old Earth can give.
And he ain't put back nothing.Whoa-oh

Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears.
For what he never knew,
now man's reign is through.

But through eternal night.
The twinkling of starlight.
So very far away.
Maybe it's only yesterday.

In the year 2525
If man is still alive.
If woman can survive, they may find.

In the year 3535 [fade]

That is one of my facorites tunes from that error.
It has a lot to say and is something to look back upon to see just how far we have come to bringing the predictions to fruition. Look at one of the predictions that the song makes:

In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife.
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too.
From the bottom of a long glass tube. Whoa-oh

We won't have to wait that long for this to come true, we are nearly there now if not already doing it!

I'm going to pick up a copy of the book,

Brave New World and read it, it's about that very thing...

Picking children from a test tube... etc.

I had never heard of it until recently.

Great song. There were many at the time though. A lot of people thought that the 70's were the golden age of rock but it's based in the music of the 60's. Beatles(sorry, I hate the Stones), The Who, The Kinks, Pink Floyd put out their first album in '67. Zepp- 69.

Then there were 1 hit wonders. Look up Norm Greenbaum. And one of my fav's:

OK, and one from the other end of the political spectrum:

BUT was it the opposite? We learned that it really wasn't. Good lessons learned in the 60's. We're going to need them in this day and age. Sad for our kids. I didn't think these times would come again.

Sorry, rant over.

I love that lyric "men who jump and die".
How 'bout "fight and die"?
"Jump and die" sounds so stupid. It's like some dude jumped out of a plane and his chute didn't open. There's no honor in going splat because your government issue piece of crap parachute didn't open.

Peace
