These are what is commonly referred to as ‘chastisement prophecies’.
Some contain religious rhetoric but for those who aren’t into the religious
aspect, try to look past that and see what ‘was seen’ in the vision. When
people have visions, many times they transpose the information (or it is
transposed for them) into a way that they can understand. So when
someone prophecies that ‘demons will cause earthquakes’ – yes demons
may cause earthquakes OR the earthquakes will happen and from their
perspective it’s evil so they also see a demon causing it.

Many prophecies contain reference to a great fire that will purge the
earth. I don’t know if they are all true visions, or if they are feeding off
each other. Either way, it is a common theme that I found.

These ‘chastisement prophecies’ deal with a time period before the Anti-
Christ appears but after the time period the person lived in. I found the
prophecy about a powerful choking wind by St. Hildegard to be very
interesting. Radiation clouds? Hmmm. If you wait long enough eventually
most ‘prophecies’ come true and people point to them and say ‘it was
prophecied!’. So even if you take all this with a grain of salt, as I do, you
still may find them interesting.

Most info was gleened from the books – ‘Three Days of
Darkness’, ‘Prophecies, the Chastisment and Purification’, and ‘Trial,
Tribulation & Triumph , before, during and after Antichrist’

***************************************************

Paris and Rome Specific –

The Prophecy of Premol (5th Century)
“Everywhere there is war! Peoples and nations are pitted against each
other. War, war, war! Civil and foreign wars! Mourning and death
everywhere! Famine over the whole world. Will Lutetius (Paris) be
destroyed? Why, O Lord, dost Thou not stop all this with Thy arm? Must
also the elements be the instrument of Thy wrath? Enough, O Lord,
enough! The cities are destroyed, the natural elements are set loose, the
earth quakes everywhere. But mercy, mercy for Rome! But Thou hearest
not my entreaties, and Rome also collapses in tumult.”

Fr. Nectou (From Southwest France. Died 1777)
‘… during this revolution, which will very likely be general and not confined
to France, Paris will be destroyed so completely that twenty years
afterwards fathers walking over its ruins with their children will be asked
by them what kind of a place that was; to whom they will answer: ‘My
child, this was a great city which God has destroyed on account of her
crimes.’ Yes, Paris will certainly be destroyed; but, before this happens,
such signs and portents will be seen, that all good people will be induced
to flee away from it.’

Sr. Elena Aiello (20th Century) Italian stigmatist
‘Russia will march upon all the nations of Europe, particularly Italy, and will
raise her flag over the dome of St. Peter’s. Italy will be severely tried by a
great revolution and Rome will be purified in blood for it’s many sins,
especially those of impurity. The flock is about to be dispersed and the
Pope will suffer greatly.

England Specific -

St. Malachy (12th Century)
“Ireland will suffer English oppression for a week of centuries, but will
preserve her fidelity to God and His Church. At the end of that time she
will be delivered, and the English in turn must suffer severe chastisement.

St. Edward the Confessor (11th Century)
‘The extreme corruption and wickedness of the English nation has
provoked the just anger of God. When malice has reached the fullness of
it’s measure, God will, in His wrath, send to the English people wicked
spirits who will punish and afflict them with severity, by separating the
green tree from its parent stem the length of three furlongs. But at last
this same tree, through the compassionate mercy of God, and without any
national (governmental) assistance, shall return to its original root,
reflourish, and bear abundant fruit.

Fr. Balthassar Mas (17th Century)
‘I saw a land swallowed up by the sea and covered with water. But
afterwards, I saw that the sea receded little by little and the land could be
seen again. The tops of the towers in the city rose again above the water
and appeared more beautiful than before, and I was told that this land
was England.’

America
Teresa Neumann (20th Century) paraphrased -
Natural disasters will afflict America. She won’t suffer from invasion but
will suffer greatly from natural disaster.

HOPI Prophecies – speak of purification by fire, etc.
www.welcomehome.org...

N.E. North American Indian prophecies – purification, etc.
www.wabanaki.com...

The World in General –

Bishop Chistianos Ageda (12th Century) NOTE – terms ‘right’ and ‘left’ for
political parties didn’t exist back in the 12th century.
‘In the 20th century … there will be wars which will last long: provinces
divested of their people and kingdoms in confusion … In diverse places the
ground shall be untilled, and there shall be great slaughters of the nobility
(and upper class) … There shall be great mutilations of kings and rulers.
The right hand of the world shall fear the left and the north shall prevail
over the south.’

St. Hildegard (12th Century)
‘At this time, as a punishment for their sins Christians especially will
attempt armed resistance, sensing no concern about the death of their
bodies. A powerful wind will rise in the north carrying heavy fog and the
densest cloud of dust by divine command, and it will rage against them
(the persecutors of the Christians) and it will fill their throats and eyes so
that they will cease their savagery and be stricken with a great
amazement.’

St. Hildegard (12th Century)
‘Before the comet comes, many nations, the good excepted, will be
scourged by want and famine. The great nation in the ocean that is
inhabited by people of different tribes and descent will be devastated by
earthquake, storm, and tidal wave. It will be divided and, in great part,
submerged. That national will also have many misfortunes at sea and lose
it’s colonies.’

‘By its tremendous pressure the comet will force much out of the ocean and
flood many countries, causing much want and many plagues. All coastal
cities will live in fear, and many of them will be destroyed by tidal waves,
and most living creatures will be killed, and even those who escape will die
from horrible diseases.’

Jeanne le Royer (18th Century) From Brittany France.
‘I see in God that – a long time before the rise of Antichrist – the world will
be afflicted with the many bloody wars. Peoples will rise against peoples,
and nation will rise against nations, sometimes allied, sometimes enemies,
in their fight against the same party. Armies will come into frightful
collisions and will fill the earth with murder and carnage. As well as that, I
see that the earth will be shaken in different laces by frightful
earthquakes. I see whole mountains cracking and splitting with a terrible
din. Only too happy will one be if one can escape with no more than a
fright; but no, I see come out of these gaping mountains whirlwinds of
smoke, fire, sulphur, and tar, which reduce to cinders entire towns. All this
and a thousand other disasters must come before the rise of the Man of
Sin (antichrist).

Sr. Elena Aiello (20th Century) Italian stigmatist.
‘ … clouds with lightning rays of fire and a tempest of fire will pass over the
whole world and the punishment will be the most terrible ever known in
the history of mankind. It will last 70 hours. … The hours of darkness are
near .. some nations will be purified while others will disappear entirely.’

‘… if people … do not return to God with truly Christian living, another
terrible war will come from the East to the West. Russia with her secret
armies will battle America: will overrun Europe. The river Rhine will be
overflowing with corpses and blood. Italy will also be harassed by a great
revolution and the Pope will suffer terribly.’

Sr. Agnes of Akita (20th Century) Akita Japan - stigmatist. Has official
Catholic Church ‘approval’. This vision is more of a message (allegedly)
from the Virgin Mary –
‘My dear daughter, listen well to what I have to say to you. You will inform
your superior. As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves,
the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a
punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen
before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of
humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful.
The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the
dead. …’

BL Anna Maria Taigi (20th Century I believe)
‘But after these earthly scourges will come the heavenly one .. This
scourge will be far more frightful and terrible; it will be mitigated by
nothing but it will take place and act in its full rigor.

Elisabeth Canori-Mora (No additional info on her)
‘ … innumerable legions of demons shall overrun the earth, and shall
execute the orders of Divine justice by causing terrible calamities and
disasters: they shall attack everything: they shall injure individual persons
and entire families: they shall devastate property and alimentary
productions, cities and villages.’

Mother Elena Leonardi – a ‘message’ allegedly from Virgin Mary
on April 1, 1976
‘The earth will tremble in a most frightful way and all humanity will
stagger… The first blow is drawing near. An unforeseen fire will descend
over the whole earth, and a great part of humanity will be destroyed…
Russia will be almost completely burned.’

That is very relative to the world disaster scares of modern times. It is no wonder many religions say this is the end of times.

These prophecies make me sick. Particularly Sr. Agnes of Akita...

Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful.

To me these are despicable scare tactics to get us to follow their religion. And even the one I quoted shows how downright evil their religion, and ultimately their god is. Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

If a god would allow humans to do all this stuff... to suffer the way we do, he is downright evil. I feel sick just thinking about this... we are all screwed. We never had a chance in the first place, and the odds are stacked against us, and we get punished for it.

Most of these prophecies are based upon older prophecies, particularly from the bible. But I also believe they are from other sources such as people who are planning this. Time travellers perhaps, or a god of some description, or agents of a Secret Society beyond what we know. I have no idea on how reliable these prophecies are. Are they really as old as claimed? Or has some hoaxer made them up as a joke? I sure hope so... but even if they are, I fear nuclear holocaust, which is clearly described in some of these prophecies, is merely a case of when.

Where is the compassion? Where is the love?

I wanted to clarify the one attributed to Neumann, since it was only paraphrased, and in fact the actual prophecy has been ringing in my ears for the past month.

In 1946, just after the end of World War II, Therese Neumann, a German stigmatic and mystic, was asked by an American GI if the United States would ever be destroyed or invaded in a war. Her answer was pointed:

"No, but at the end of this century America will be destroyed economically by a series of natural disasters."

Read up on Sr. Agnes of Akita. She was a quiet cloistered nun who
wasn't into politics or evangelization. She just reported what she
saw and what happened to her - to her superior in the convent.
That's it. No big show and no big announcements. Just a 'hey
Mother Superior - this happened to me while in prayer. I'm reporting
it to you as I am required to do. Now I'll go back to my quiet cloistered
life of prayer.' and that was it. As far as the Catholic Church using her
prophecy to scare people to become Catholic .. Akita is one of the least
known apparition/prophecies in the Catholic Church. If they were going
to use it to scare people into becoming Catholic, they would have
marketed it better and frankly, most folks in the Church no longer
listen to these things - even most priests
roll their eyes when you bring up prophecies or apparitions.

If a god would allow humans to do all this stuff...
to suffer the way we do, he is downright evil.

I was having a discussion about this in chat a few weeks ago.
Someone said that God is a very bad parent. I'm giving serious
consideration to that statement.

I found it interesting that there are prophecies of fire and purification
in the end times (or in a change of times) thoughout different religions.

Thank you, FlyersFan, for bringing this forward at this time. I am particularly grateful for the inclusion of both Hopi and Ojibway links to their prophecies.
It's always interesting how the Native traditions forsee the future and how relevant it is to the times we now live in.

I hope everyone commenting in this thread will take a closer look at what is in those links before posting.

I have a problem with much of prophecy but lets look at Agnes for a second. She professes to be a woman of God. Does it stand to reason that God, who is consistently described as 'all forgiving', would destroy the 'good' along with the 'bad'? I don't believe in 'the rapture' but isn't that the mechanism that is supposed to prevent the 'good' from being destroyed? What kind of a God would act in that manner? Either Agnes is wrong or God is not what He/She/It has been cracked up to be.

We're in one of those global cycles that seems to come around every hundred years or so where there's an increasing interest in "end times" that are going to punish "those bad people" in some form or another.

BTW, the Native American "end of the world" prophecies are not an original belief. They grew out of the prophetic movements of the late 1800's, when the cultures were being shattered and Christianized. The once-banned Ghost Dance religion was formed in this time.

Technically, there WILL be a "cleansing of fire" in around 10 billion years when the sun turns into a red giant and swallows up the inner planets, including Earth. But homo sapiens will have evolved into homo something-elsis (and evolved and evolved and evolved) long before then

But don't you see the rapid increase in technology over the last 100 years as something different and significant? George Washington rode horses to battle, Abraham Lincoln used horse drawn transportation. Not even 100 years ago, electricity was just for lighting the streets at night in most towns in the US. And now we have people in orbit around the Earth 24/7.

Unlike previous generations, we now posess the technology to destroy almost all life on the planet, and now the dooms-day scenarios don't seem so laughable as they used to be. Look at the prophecies in Revelation about the pillars of fire and smoke which sound oddly enough like nuclear detonations. The prediction of a 200,000,000 man army is another fun fact. Modern farming techniques is the only thing that makes this population size possible.

We only need one good war to wipe out life as we know it. Iraq is just a skirmish. The U.S. didn't really use their big guns on that one. It was like fighting with one had behind their back, and that hand is the strong one.

Meanwhile the sun is shining outside, the white fluffy clouds roll by in the afternoon sky, and you have no obligation to believe that anything else will ever change or be different from how they are now. That does make most of us prophecy skeptics.

Got another one - LaSallette from the 1800's.... more fire .....

Allegedly the Virgin Mary told these prophecies to an uneducated
mountaingirl named Melanie - (* I'll note here that even thought he
Catholic Church has 'approved' these apparitions as worthy of
believe - I don't believe they happened)

Quote from Mary to Melanie -

'The Society of men is on the eve of the most terrible scourges and of
gravest events. Mankind must expect to be ruled with an iron rod and to
drink from the chalice of the wrath of God."

"The earth will be stuck by calamities of all kinds (in addition to plague and
famine which will be widespread). There will be a series of wars until the
last war, which will then be fought by the ten Kings of the Antichrist, all of
whom will have one and the same plan and will be the only rulers of the
world. Before this comes to pass, there will be a kind of false peace in the
world. People will think of nothing but amusement."

"The seasons will be altered, the earth will produce nothing but bad fruit.
The stars will lose their regular motion. The moon will only reflect a faint
reddish glow. Water and fire will give the earth's globe convulsions and
terrible earthquakes which will swallow up mountains, cities, etc..."

"Woe to the inhabitants of earth! There will be bloody wars and famines,
plagues and infectious diseases. It will rain with a fearful hail of animals.
There will be thunderstorms which will shake cities, earthquakes which will
swallow up countries."

Scripture is full of quotes that describe the good being destroyed
and the bad being allowed life ... or the good being destroyed
along with the bad. There is nothing that shows God giving
special treatment to the good. In fact, just the opposite seems
to be the case. Just two (of MANY) quotes -

Those who ‘suffer with Him (for His sake) through the terrors
of the last days will at that time ‘also be glorified with Him’
(Romans 8:17)

the one ‘who endures to the end will be saved”
(Matthew 24:13; see also 10:22)

The 'biggie' ... if you look in the book of Revelation you will see the saints
under the altar talking to God, and God telling them they have to
wait until all their martyred brothers and sisters have been killed
in the last days before they can all be together in heaven.

And no, there is no 'rapture'. That was invented by a
cultist named Darby in the mid 1800's. God has never spared
the good. In fact, they seem to suffer more than the bad.

What kind of a God would act in that manner?

We are supposed to believe that 'God's ways are not our ways'.
However, sometimes it DOES make a person wonder how good
of a father God really is, doesn't it??

The prophecies that are a part of the signs which Native prophets state they have been watching for include the return of the white man. If they do not predate the conquest, then the prophecies are not sincere. I have always thought that prophetic signs they have memorized and waited for were genuine. Truly, I would be saddened if these claims were not true.
Mayan and Hopi prophecies in particular would be invalidated if they did not predate the colonization.

The 'Prophecy of Merlin'. This is very long and I have
no idea of it's roots or history. However, since it also
contains prophecies of fire .... I'll list it here for you
to decern.

Here is the part about fire - but you really need to read
the entire 'prophecy' to get a sense of time ....

clip -
The Prophecy of Merlin
By John Reade
Rochester University

In those far lands beyond the Southern Sea,
Traversed by knights who seek the Holy Grail,
The mountains belch forth fire, and flood the slopes
And valleys with the sulphurous tide of hell,
Till man and all his works are whelmed beneath.
Then, wearied with his rage, the demon sleeps,
And o'er the frozen graves of the long dead
The hopeful vine grows and the flowers bloom,
And children's voices and the song of birds
Bid hush the awful memory of the past.
But on some doomful night an ominous roar
Startles the dreaming villager, who, looking
Forth through his shivering casement, sees the sky
Alive with fearful forms. The spirits of fire,
Unchained from their long bondage, with fierce joy
Dance onward, bearing death, while smoky palls
Waver around them. With their ghostly hands
From wrathful vials they pour blazing streams
That lick the earth, from which is no escape
But death--and death comes soon. So after peace,
Which men had thought eternal, shall come war,
And chase, with rumbling horror, the sweet dreams
Of gentle harmony throughout the world.

By many a far-off height and river-side
Shall fall such men as fought at Badon-hill
Warring with heathen foes; and lonely hearths
Shall sorrow for the dead who come no more.
And, one war over, others shall succeed,
And others; and the blaze of burning towns
Shall blot the moon out of the midnight sky.

And some will say: 'Now is the end at hand
Of all things, and the whole fair world is doomed
To sink in ashy nothingness. The wrath
Of God is kindled for the sins of men.'

But when the fiery wave of war has washed
The world, as gold from which the dross is burned,
The nations shall rise purer, and men's hearts
Shall fear the touch of wrong; the slave ashamed
And angry once to see the pitiless sun
Smile on his chains, shall leap and sing for joy.

I found Stumberger ...
www.geocities.com...
He has the purification by fire happening before 2010 -

exerpt -

Over night it will take place - in a pub in Zwiesel many people will be
together, and outside the soldiers will ride over the bridge." ........ "The
people will run out of the forest. Those, who hide themselves at
the "Fuchsenriegel" or at the "Falkenstein", remain spared. Who survives
must have an iron heading. The people become ill, and nobody can help
them... however it will continue, and what follows then, is the end of the
world. Sky and earth burn, because it is the time, when everything comes
to an end. And this time will be, when the wild hunt with fire and sulphur
roars over the country. But it is still long time, till it will happen, then no
humans will know anymore, where "Zwiesel" and where "Rabenstein"
(German towns) have been. Of all frights the this will be the last. When the
people fall off the bank like the flies off the wall, the last time begins. It will
be horrible." ........"But when however someone at the whole Danube
stream finds still another cow, then she is worth it to be attached with a
silver bell by the owner." ....

Some more fire purification prophecies -

When this horrible war starts woe to those armies that fly through the
skies. Better off will be those who fight on ground and water. People
waging this war will have their scientists who will invent different and
strange cannon-balls. When they explode, these cannon-balls, instead of
killing, will cast a spell over all that lives; people, armies and livestock. This
spell will make them sleep, and sleep they will instead of fighting, and after
they will come back to their senses. We [Serbia] will not fight in this war,
but others will do battle over our heads. Burning people will fall from the
sky over Pozega [a town in Serbia]. Only one country at the end of the
world, surrounded by great seas, as big as our Europe [Australia?], will live
in peace, without any troubles.... Upon it or over it not a single canon-ball
will explode! Those who run and hide in the mountains with three crosses
will find shelter and will be saved to live afterwards in abundance,
happiness and love, because there will be no more wars...."

- Mitar Tarabic, 1829 - 1899

Still your rule lasts, my loved Prague, but also you will face the last hour.
Prague, my dear Prague, you will find a rare and terrible end. A breath
goes through your lanes, sweet and warm; surprised mankind will feel it.
With horribly distorted faces thousands begin to rest and freeze despite
the warmth. It comes to the end. Ten musty bells of the last church clang in
the air. The slow and muddy tides of the Moldau roll as a terrible hurricane
roars across the country, across the city. Yellow-grey dust and heavy, poisonous clouds take the breath from humans and cattle. The Hradschin is
set on fire, in the city the walls burst. Everywhere fire rages. The earth
trembles, vibrated by the mighty quake. Deep gaps do open, devouring the
dead and the living. The graves open as ransacked by spirit hands, and
the skeletons smile with cruel laughter. Everything sinks in the
unfathomably black depth.

"From Vyschrad a tremendous fireball comes along, rocks fly through the
air and all around blazes a sea of fire. Everything that mankind's diligence
has created lies in debris and ash. One can only hear the roar of the storm.
Life has gone out. I only see rubble and corpses. Slowly the clouds
disappear where once the proud cathedral dome had been. I see a bloody-
red fireball. It is over! Prague, your fate has been fulfilled! Where are your
houses, proud city? Why do gloomy tides flood the coasts of a deserted
heath? Horrible worms eat body and spirit with frightening effect. Weeds and ruins and a poisonous cloud characterizes the countryside. Is this the
harvest of the human seed?"

Some people are saying that the riots in France fulfil the
prophecies that Paris will burn. I don't think these riots
are the fulfilment. I think they are a warning of what is
to come. Something much worse ...

Father Nectou - 18th century "As when the fig tree begins to sprout and
produce leaves, it is a certain sign that summer is near, so when England
shall begin to wane in power, the destruction of Paris shall be near at
hand. This shall be a sign. England shall, in her turn, experience a more
frightful revolution than that of France."

Jane Le Royer -- who died in 1798, at the end of the French Revolution:

"The thick vapors which I have seen rising from the earth, and obscuring
the light of the sun, are the false maxims of irreligion and of license
(falsely called liberty) [liberalism], which in part originated in France, and in
part came to us from abroad. These have succeeded in confounding all
sound principles, and in spreading everywhere such darkness as to
obscure the light both of faith and of reason. The storm began in France,
which shall be the first theatre of its ravages, after having been its forge."

Sister Marianne - died 1804 saw "great tribulations in many large cities of
France" and "a horrible massacre in the capitol, namely, Paris."

I know this may not go hand in hand with the bible or maybe it will as I have not read the whole yet. Anyway what if you look at good/evil or god/satan as a machine. If you feed one with more of one you get a reaction. So if more evil in the world happens maybe it creates worse natural disasters? I guess there would be need for some serious comparing. A unity of souls karma so to speak...just a thought.

Now let me step even further with my imagination what if the center of the earth was hell and all bad souls/energy went there but if to many went there would cause unbalance etc.

Or maybe all the oil we suck out of earth serves more of a service than we know to the plates and those cause earthquakes etc.

I just thought I'd add the "Ball of Redemption" from the Bayside Prophecies (I didn't see it referenced - Bayside, Queens, New York, 1970s thru mid 80s, i think) as it's very much the same type of prophecy, albeit probably more bizarre.

Taken from the alleged Marian messages to Veronica Lueken:
[...]
The Eternal Father now has taken into His hand a most luminous ball; it is a red ball of fire. It is growing very heavy in His hand. It no longer sets at the base of His throne, and He shall poise now to throw this. It will be thrown, My child, at the world - a ball of fire.
[...]
My children, there will be many warnings given to mankind, one a major merciful one before the great chastisement. The Ball of Redemption approaches. It will come fast upon mankind, a heat so great that skin will dry up on the bones and blow away as if it had never been. Man will see and still not believe, so great is the sin upon earth.
[...]

Lots more where that came from for those interested: source. And though the Bayside prophecies are not officially endorsed/whatever catholic apparitions (not necessarily relative to the discussion here anyway), they are nonetheless worth tossing into the *burning earth* prophetic mix.

I am aware that Bayside exhists but I didn't include it. The
