Article about Dr. Ben Marble, the man who Cursed at Cheney

I found this article about Dr. Ben Marble, the physician who uttered those infamous(sp) words to Mr. Cheney. After he left and went back to his houes he was detained and let go after about 20 minutes.

Dr. Ben Marble, a young emergency room physician who plays in alternative rock bands and does art on the side, needs our help. Since he was the one who told Dick Cheney to "go # yourself" on Sept. 8, that's the least we can do.

Marble is a complex guy, to say the least. Some of the lyrics he writes can be considered harsh by some – personally what I've heard is very much on target - but he has a softer side as an organizer of breast cancer fund-raisers, not to mention an ER doctor.

I fiqured he would be detained. The article stated that they took his contact information and released him after 20 minutes, after all he commited no crime. I quess it would be dumb of me to ask if no crime commited why the handcuffs.

He also tried to sell the interview his friend recorded on ebay as stated in the article, but the item had to be removed by e-bay. I quess that's illegal to sell, again call me dumb, but I myself have bought videos off e-bay before.

I actually find this guy rather interesting. I tried to find his band on mp3.com but didn't have any success with it. If any one can find any more info on him I would like to see it. Especially any of his music. I also like how he is an organizer of breast cancer fund-raisers, as well as being an ER doctor. His friend videotaped a little bit longer and then came back to Marble’s house. As they were salvaging a few things from Marble's home, two military police waving M-16's showed up and said they were looking
for someone who fit Marble's description who had cursed at Cheney.

Disaster aside i did have a laugh at this,the word PROBABLY as if to refer that there may have been others cursing Cheney within ten minutes or so from him cursing Cheney.

I can identify with this guy Marble he sound like an Aussie that shoots from the hip.

I take my hat off to him.

So let’s get this straight: A physician with a newborn baby loses most everything he owns in the hurricane, does what most of us WANT to do and “echoes” Cheney’s words he spoke on the Senate floor last year, walks away harmlessly, mission accomplished, and then once the media cameras leave, he is treated like a foreign terrorist as Cheney’s goons waving M-16s handcuff him in front of his destroyed home? Had it not been for the media cameras filming the initial scene, I doubt Cheney’s goons would have just let Marble go after 20 minutes.

The guy shouted and cursed at the Vice President of the
United States. OF COURSE he has to be checked out. He
could be a security risk. It makes no difference what party
the VP is from - dem or republican - a potential security risk
has to be checked. Considering all the weapons and shootings
that have been happening down there, as well as all the stress
from the situation, I would hope that they would cuff the guy
as they checked him. (and I'd say that no matter what political
party the VP was from)

The guy had to know that he'd be checked out and considered
a security risk until cleared. He probably WANTED to be cuffed
so he could get more attention.

Where was Cheney? Was he in New Orleans? It's still martial
law there. Civil rights are suspended during martial law. I don't
know if Mississippi has martial law along the coast as well.

The use of the F word was ineffective other than to draw negative publicity.

Given the same opportunity I think it may have been more effective to
shout.

"YOU BELONG IN PRISON MR. CHENEY"

True FallenFromTree would you get treated in the same manner in America for saying even that though?

Sorry, but he was just using the same words Cheney himself used. That was the whole point of it.

may have been more effective and damaging once it was repeated thousands
on times in the media without the use of offensive language.

I would have loved for that to have happened aswell.

Even though i like the fact that somebody told Cheney off, its still not correct, and they were definately "fighting words" which can get you time in the pokey. The man was definately not smart at all.
If he did it to amuse himself and others, well...it failed. That will learn him to screw around with the top dogs.

I think carrying a sign saying "Go #$%@ yourself-" Dick Cheney, would have been perfect. See, the dash indicates Cheney himself quoted that sentence. Any court of law would have agreed and dismissed the case.

Now that would really have gotten him in hot water!! ( And the video confiscated, so we would never have hear!)

Cheney should be glad it wasn't that or worse!

The VP should have been a big enough guy to understand the Dr.'s frustration in this particular situation....lord knows he could affort a little charity....in more ways than one. Besides, nobody put Cheney in cuffs, when he said the same thing to an important 'official of the government'!

At least he has a great story to tell his kid in later years!

It was sort of hard to hear the guy as it was, by saying all that you're just making it more complex.

The media wouldn't have played it out as much either, just some faintly audible man trying to say something about prison or halliburton, it wouldn't have made much news. It's a bigger deal because it's offensive.

As a not so proud american, but a pround American serviceman of 7+ years I'd like to take this opportunity to say:

GOD BLESS the Dr. Ben Marbles of this nation.


Sounds like to me he had his marbles with him when adressing a Dick cheney.

Lets face it. Cheney is a _____ ______e, but the guy was a bigger one for getting himself arrested. End of story.
