Ya..If I buy that, can I curse openly in my posts and not be penalized? Can I mutter the most unholy of unholies?? Can I finally drop the "F" bomb on ATS? (So long as its not directed at another member, of course!)

I'm a tad confused. If I can, I'll buy it in a second! Keep yer RATS..I wanna use naughty words!!

No sir...profanity isn't allowed in the forums. Purchasing the censor option only allows you to view the profanity that other members are probably getting in trouble for using in their posts.

RATS is a total waste of points...Oh wait..you mean what IS it..Its a section of ATS called "Really Above Top Secret" Its private. It costs ya 5000 points to join and then another 250 a month to continue membership. But get this! Say you pay 5000 on the 29th..on the first you gotta pay another 250. if ya want more of my opinion, U2U me. Aint suppose to chatter about it on here. Its to "Tops Secret"

Anyrate...this would have been an excellent post for me if I could have sworn and not been CENSORED about subject matter...

Which is another good question. By turning off the censors, can I now post freely whatever I like? Or post about whatever I want to (minus porn of course..) Hmmm....

RATS is a forum that is not accessable by the 30,000 or whatever people who are viewers or newbies, but not longer term members. It's a forum for topics you don't want the world to have access to. You know, like, "My aunt ester is gay, but she still likes to touch me." Or, "Aliens abducted Gary The Anarchist, and now he's all about the government".

As to the swearing thing, do you really need to swear to express your opinion and knowlege? Some things used to express yourself, such as saying something like, "Damn it, Spliff, I'm a dork, not a moderator!", I think is totally cool (like I said, dork). However, just swearing for the sake of swearing, or swearing to insult another member instead of discussing the issue, in my opinion, is totally unnecessary and rather immature. So, just ask yourself, do you really need to swear to get your opinion across, or could you add emphesis and use obtuse words to get your point across?

Oh ya, most definitly. If I could have all the time back I wasted on here trying to think of another way of saying "FBS", I'd still be young. The best I came up with was "Fornicating pile of bovine feces".

Well, ya...but what fun would that be? Look, for the most part I'm calm and rational. But every once in a while, I want burn off some steam. So lets say I post in BTS under rant and let fly with a post that has some "naughty" words in, so what?

If I am PURCHASING access, then I obviously have no objections to it. Neither should anyone else who PURCHASES it. I understand that kids have access to this site, but say if there was a section like RATS, that cost 5000 and it was an all out free for all (minus porn)...that would be allright no?

Anyways, this is all kind of "tongue in cheek". I dont want to run around and curse out people in my posts (well, some I would), but more, just really wondering what turning them pesky censors off actuallly does.

profanity isn't allowed but we have censors for a reason. If your's are on, you just didn't get my joke and no guest or search engine did either. This is good.

So while profanity isn't "allowed" (both technically and by TAC) we have safety valves.

If you really do have to swear for some reason, you can use this one ...

...and let people use their own imagination and substitute a suitable word in its place. Just an idea...
