Russian Combat Jets Scrambled to Repulse Trespasser Cloud

Combat aircraft of Russia’s Baltic Fleet were rushed to the Lithuanian border on Wednesday to repel a possible violation by what turned out to be an unnaturally thick and fast moving cloud, the RIA-Novosti news agency reported citing the Baltic Fleet’s press service.

The press service said that a Su-27 fighter was ordered into the air near Russia’s Baltic Sea enclave of Kaliningrad after radar spotted a light plane entering Russian airspace from Lithuania. However, the plane found nothing after reaching the border area.

The Baltic Fleet’s air defense command post, military officials and Lithuania and Poland later revealed the intruder was actually a thick cloud that was being driven by a strong wind.

“Our fighter approached the trespasser to make it land or leave Russian air space”, the press service said. “A closer examination showed that there was a cloud instead of a light plane and it was coming from the territory of Lithuania,” the Baltic Fleet’s spokesman said.

Good find. We need to find out who's side these clouds are on!

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the president was in the underground bunker for a "very short amount of time." He said he believed it was the first time Bush was taken to the shelter since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

it seems that people just sort of glossed over that statement.... if it is a real statement. ummmmm, the pres wasn't at the white house then..or was he? alien shapeshifters?? is this just ANOTHER simply 'mis-speak' from the bush camp? or just a plane old slip up??????

Anyway, even though a false alarm, he had a place to go to and be safe....a luxury that most people in the world dont have....

Better safe than sorry....honestly speaking, I`d rather feel `sorry` for him than see him safe....
