Earlier this morning President Bush was removed from his Oval office by secret service officials and taken to an underground shelter. These actions were taken as a direct result of suspicions that an unidentified aircraft had entered the no-fly zone near the White House. Vice President Dick Cheney was not at the White House during the incident, but is said to have been taken to a separate secure location. They immerged from protection shortly thereafter and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of this false alarm.

"There was an indication that an aircraft has entered the no-fly zone," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said. "There's an investigation to determine what it really was."

Security officers toting shotguns took up positions around the White House compound during the incident.

McClellan said Bush was working in the Oval Office at the time. Bush was taken to the underground bunker. He was there "a very short amount of time," McClellan said.

Paranoia still runs high as tiny dust particles on the radar somehow are mistaken for large aircraft approaching the white house....Of course I'm exaggerating here.

Regardless of my disdain for the President, it's always comforting to see things work the way they should under such harrowing situations. The secret service is a finely oiled machine that has shown great speed and accuracy at ascertaining threats and ensuring the safety of our commander-in-chief.

Bush was in a Bunker on 9/11????

I thought Bush was in a Florida classroom on 9/11???????

Scott McClellan said the president was in the underground bunker for a "very short amount of time." He said he believed it was the first time Bush was taken to the shelter since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks?????????

Bush Taken to Bunker After Airspace Scare

Apr 27, 2:07 PM (ET)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush was hustled into an underground shelter on Wednesday amid fears an aircraft had entered the restricted airspace around the White House, officials said. The Secret Service determined minutes later that it was a false alarm.

Vice President Dick Cheney also was moved to a secure location as heavily armed Secret Service agents cleared the area in front of the presidential mansion.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the president was in the underground bunker for a "very short amount of time." He said he believed it was the first time Bush was taken to the shelter since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

"There were some precautionary measures that were taken. It was quickly learned that it was a false alarm and that all was clear in a very short amount of time," McClellan said. "Everything is fine."

McClellan said the Secret Service was still investigating the cause of the false alarm. "They're looking into exactly what it was," he added.

Secret Service agents wielding shotguns dispersed tourists during the brief security scare.

On heightened alert after the Sept. 11 airplane attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the White House has had several similar false alarms involving aircraft.

I'm not quite sure I'm following you swdecord....

Perhaps he was taken to an underground bunker following his upside down reading of Nancy or Goat, or whatever the hell that book was called
It's been a while and I can't really recall what Bush did following the attacks, but it would make sense to me if that was his next stop....

Yeah...That guard's probably on his way to some remote post in Alaska by now
....no one escapes the Paparazzi....

God forbid they should have been taken to a safe place, just have a couple of white house goons with a shotgun chase them out the door to fend for themselves...

I guess they bought the 50c tour.

Anybody that has ever been to D.C. sees the whitehouse police every where on the grounds. When you go on whitehouse tours

Nevermind, that was a few years ago....pre 9/11.

Anyways, why would they hide? Sometimes a visible armed presence
is a very good deterence.

Bush was in a classroom and then rushed to Barksdale AFB and later to Offutt AFB.
Either one of these Bases is where he was probably put into an underground shelter.

while the coward huddles under a bunker in what is now one of the best defended cities from air attack in the world, soldiers are dying in iraq in the line of duty and fire.

I am not a defender of Bush, but I don't think it is proper to call him a coward. He was forced by the Secret Service to do so. The same would be expected of any President. These bunkers are very well equipped and it probably affords him more information than staying in the White House.

What I find baffling is the Secret Service on top of the White House with shotguns. Surely that would not stop a plane in time. Why shotguns???

What if terrorist jump out of the plane, pulled there chute and tried to land on the white house to kidnap the President.....The Secret Service could then pretend there clay pigeons.

I know, I know...a bit of a stretch.

My (real) guess would be that not all of the agents knew of the exact threat, so they probably did what they would do in case of a more common threat, get guns and head to the high ground.

Makes you wonder huh?..

If Secret service took, let's say 30 seconds to secure Bush/Cheney's safety acting on a False Alarm pretense.. Makes you wonder why Bush continued reading 'my pet goat' for an entire 7 minutes without moving a finger! Why didn't Secret service detained Bush and quickly whisk him away to safety when America was truly under attack?

Was our president considered in the "safe zone" sitting in crowded classroom full of children? Certainly, if you had prior knowledge of the NWO game plan..

Syntaxer just made a very salient point. Think about that for a second...

And as far as Bush going to ground, it wasn't his decision. The SS overrules presidential authority in times of crisis. They took him by the arms and ran him out of the building, just like it says to do in their job description.

Apparently he was taken against his will on 9/11, secured in a bunker under armed guard.

There is nothing necessarily wrong with this, because it helps insure that America never loses its political head to an attack.

Then again, if only he'd just stay in a bunker how much brighter the sun would shine...

Because this is after 9/11, it changed there mind set.

Would you of rather had a calm, cool, and collected President finish up and then made secure...Or have Bush reading and the agent tells him what happened and he yells "HOLY #, WERE ALL GONNA DIE, EVERYBODY RUN!!!. Get my point, I guarantee that after he was told what happened he forgot all about the story and started thinking about what to do next...and retaliation.

All of you NWO believers are a bunch of fools, theres no such thing...its all in your paranoid heads.

I'd have to agree with you there....

Simply put, America was different before 9/11 - Policies have changed, new organizations have been formed...

Who knows in the long run if it's truly for the better....but While Bush was reading his book to the children, few people could have foreseen what was to come....note I said "few".....His reaction and that of everyone around him could have been simply explained as "pure shock".....

Bush was taken into the bunker because a cloud passed overhead.

D.C. Alert Triggered By Clouds

By Sara Kehaulani Goo and Spencer S. Hsu
Washington Post Staff Writers
Thursday, April 28, 2005; Page A05

The mysterious flying object first blipped across U.S. security radar 20 miles south of Reagan National Airport at 10:40 a.m. yesterday and appeared headed swiftly toward the District.

About 15 minutes later, President Bush was in an underground bunker at the White House and Vice President Cheney was escorted off the White House grounds to a secure location, officials said.

The "target" -- as Customs and Border Protection officials called it -- showed up on the radar intermittently. It was moving through restricted airspace at about the speed of a helicopter, said agency spokesman Gary Bracken. Customs officials reported the object's approach to the Domestic Events Network, a 24-hour secure communications line connecting all major security-related agencies.

Army officials at Davison Army Airfield in Fort Belvoir, Va., spotted a low-flying helicopter in the area but could not determine whether it was the object that had set off the alert.

After vanishing from radar, the target then reappeared several minutes later -- this time just seven miles from National Airport, stirring serious concern among Customs and Border Protection officials, Bracken said. The agency dispatched a Black Hawk helicopter to the scene. A U.S. Park Police helicopter and another from a local law enforcement agency, which were already airborne, also scanned the area.

But all the search teams saw were clouds.

Turns out, that's all it was.

"It does happen," Bracken said. "We have to deal with weather anomalies showing up on the radar screen."

U.S. officials say it is not uncommon for radars scanning the sky for terrorist threats to mistake a weather system or a flock of birds for a unidentified aircraft -- and it sends them scrambling. Yesterday's scare was the first known incident to send the president to the White House underground bunker since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Officials said the swift reaction illustrated the improved communication system among security agencies charged with keeping the sky around Washington secure.

Ahhhhh.... yep.
