Is anyone going to trust the US's word at this point ?

The US supports the status quo , supporting an autonomous Taiwan while not advocating independence gives Taiwan the backing they need while not confronting China.

No doubt if Biden had said "we support independence for Taiwan" a similar thread would have appeared accusing him of trying to start a war with China , in situation such as this a fine line needs to be walked.

Just as long as we are consistent and we don't send mixed messages, it's all good.

The US is quietly arming Taiwan to the teeth

says the headline. Bull#. We've been promising them a lot, but a lot of their deliveries are being diverted to Ukraine. China and Russia are thinking 3 steps ahead. We're not.

Taiwan isn't gonna have what they need to win when it happens. At best, they'll be stuck in a stalemate like Ukraine is. But that's unlikely if you ask me because resupplying them won't be as easy as it is to resupply Ukraine. Once China sets up their naval blockade, it's only a matter of time.
