Apparently Trump would not agree to be bound to the same things his lawyers are for a closing argument. To stick to the facts of the case. The judge stated clearly:

He may not comment on irrelevant matters,” Engoron wrote in the email. “In particular, and without limitation, he may not deliver a campaign speech, and he may not impugn myself, my staff, plaintiff, plaintiff’s staff, or the New York State Court System, none of which is relevant to this case, and all of which, except commenting on my staff, can be done, and is being done, in other forums.”

Trump apparently did not really want to do a closing argument as he would not agree.

what are the official rules for a closing argument?

According to the American Bar Association.

The lawyers’ closing arguments or summations discuss the evidence and properly drawn inferences. The lawyers cannot talk about issues outside the case or about evidence that was not presented.

So what if the lawyers are not members of the temple bar association?
And what happens to a bar lawyer who breaks that rule?
Are all lawyers members of the bar?
Is the bar part of the Judiciary?

And since Trump is not a member of the temple bar, does it matter since he cannot be disbared?

That has nothing to do with the discussion.

Network dude asked about a rules for closing arguments which has been provided by myself and others.

And to the best of my knowledge temple bar is a UK legal organisation, or street to over pay for Guinness in Dublin. Nothing to do with the American Bar Association.

You gave an answer for Trump not allowed by a Judge to speak on his own behalf in closing arguments.
It cited the ABA.
Is the ABA part of the Judiciary?
What if Trumps lawyers were common law lawyers?
What happens to Trump from the privately held ABA corporation if he breaks their regulations imposed upon their members if he is not a member?
And yes, I cited the parent organization for lawyers trained to litigate the U.C.C. in admiralty courts. For a purpose.
Trump is not bound by the A.B.A. in any way whatsoever.
The A.B.A. is not a part of the federal judiciary.
It only can enforce its members.

The ABA is the source of the quote, not that it is their rule.

Other posters have different sources for the same rules.

Is that clear enough?

It is quite clear nobody posted a legitimate reason Trump cannot speak on his own behalf.
You nor anyone else in this thread has provided any legitimate and legal reason yet in this thread or you would have posted it already for your reply to my query

The rules for giving closing statements have been provided by several posters.

My understanding from the OP is that Trump could have given a closing statement if he agreed to follow the rules.

Nobody in this thread has posted any law, code, or regulation or statute that binds Trump.
Only a B.A.R. lawyer bound by their membership in this association.
If so you would post in in response here.

Courts have rules, sorry if you find that too difficult to understand.

I never said different.
Actually most court protocols are about how to restrict servants of the court. Just like how the Constitution is structured

Without getting approval Trump went off on a rant and then left.

Ya know -- it's not so much Trump as -- if they allow his behavior.

Who/what's next?

I just heard from a Fox News lawyer, whatever judge Endogroin rules in the way of damages, will be appealed, and that appeal will take years... Possibly longer than Donald Trump's next term.

Making it pretty obvious he's more concerned about being right than being useful to the American public. He could be doing something relevant, philanthropic with that money and guess where it's all going. Billions trickling through back channels into the pockets of the DNC and their cronies (you know, the guys he was supposed to put in jail) for the privilege of being scorned in print and on the airwaves. Pyrrhic victory much?

If I knew I had a 375 million dollar settlement coming I would have walked to the stand and gave each one of them the finger. What? Contempt?

This has been worse than the 1/6 hearings. It is like a Netflix show that is sooooo bad you cannot not watch it.

If Donald J Trump is such a feakin mastermind and has so much control and the ability to manipulate all these things.....why is he putting himself through this?

I have a sneaking suspicion when all this is over you will find out the judge knew Trump a loooooong time ago in his tell all book.

This is another Public Relations WIN for former President/Presidential Candidate Donald J. Trump.

But damn, don't these judges and prosecutors understand the that Mr. Trump will most likely be President Trump once again, in just 12 months and 10 days from today? Do they not comprehend...or care, about the ramifications?

Former President Trump will not be allowed to make his own closing argument in his New York civil fraud trial after his lawyers refused to guarantee he would stick to matters “relevant” to the case.

A day before scheduled closing arguments, Judge Arthur Engoron told Trump’s legal team that the former president will not speak in court.

An email exchange between Engoron and Trump’s lawyers posted to the case’s docket showed a testy back-and-forth over the types of comments Trump would be allowed to make.

Last week, Trump attorney Chris Kise informed Engoron’s principal law clerk that three attorneys and the former president himself intended to give closing remarks. Hours later, a lawyer with the New York attorney general’s office staunchly objected.

New York Judge Arthur Engoron and New York A.G./Prosecutor Letitia James have taken themselves into uncharted waters, by prosecuting Donald Trump without a jury, and arbitrarily self-determining how badly to punish the former/next U.S. President and his family. Soon, they will realize the uncharted waters are filled with very dangerous sharks and other creatures...millions of them.

Further Documenting the evil, which will support punishment of the evildoer(s):

Statement from Previous/Next U.S. President, Donald J. Trump...

Why should a Crooked, highly political New York Judge, Arthur Engoron, working in concert and coordination with an even more Corrupt Attorney General, Letitia “Peekaboo” James, his Puppet Master, and the White House, be allowed to take away, and sell off, very successful properties and assets that took me years to zone, build and nurture into some of the best of their kind anywhere in the World - WHEN I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG! These Radical Left Lunatics and Communists ask me to pay a ridiculous and completely unheard of fine of over $450,000,000 only because they saw a similar amount in my bank account. I had intended to use much of that hard earned money on running for President. They don’t want me to do that — ELECTION INTERFERENCE!
