Does nobody else find this peculiar? A baby’s body is made up of entirely water yet if you give the baby water to drink it will die.

It is likely that whatever toxins are in the water our bodies can only handle once we have aged and developed a little. Newborns cannot handle what is in the water and thus it can kill them.

Easily googled.
Don't give them water before a year old.
Their stomachs are too little.
Their kidneys can't handle it yet.
Their brains will swell. Water toxicity. Bad salt levels.

Health Line

I havent drank water from the public water systems since 1991 as went I went to the emergency room with bacterial poisoning in my gut. The doctor said that I got same from the drinking water in Pennsylvania that got their water from a reservoir in New York. It was explained to me that in times of drought or excessive heat the reservoirs are low and birds poo in the reservoir and that bacteria doesnt get killed via filtration.

So we drink and we suffer.

I think a majority of mothers choose to feed their babies with baby formula instead of breast feeding. Guess what you use to make baby formula liquid? You guessed it, TAP WATER.

But it is also mixed with the formula, they aren't drinking straight water. Also, technically you're supposed to use distilled or purified water, not just regular tap water.

Well, I guess technically all 3 of my grown children should not have lived?

What is the point of this OP?

Holy non sequitur batman

What is the point of this OP?

It shows the possible outcomes of giving an infant/newborn too much water before a certain age.

the only thing that strikes me as odd here is that people think babies dying is weird

People used to have 15 children for a reason- most of them didn't make it

Explain how that is a non sequitur?

The point of the OP is to say that infants shouldn't drink tap water. However, my point is that most infants do as they are fed baby formula that is mixed with tap water. How does that not logically follow the previous statement?

What the OP probably means (I guess) is that infants probably shouldn't be given straight water as it fills their stomachs and does not allow room for more nutrient filled liquids such as baby formula or breast milk.

Exactly .

And on the other hand it was very common for mothers to die in child birth.

To help stop ignorant, apathetic parenting that refuses to address a childs fundamental needs maybe?

Depends on where the drinking water came from.

I would not feed a baby water that was not boiled, and then only for a sore tummy, in a very small amount.

Babies drink milk from the breast or formula from a bottle.

You shouldn't give water to a baby ... boiled or not.
At six months a baby can take like a teaspoon.
At one year a baby can actually drink some water.
If you give a baby water, ANY kind of water, you can kill it.

I did read your comment. Also, I have never known a single person with children to use distilled water to mix with the formula. It's pricey enough as it is.

Now I did know one family that used reverse osmosis water but that was because they spent the money to buy such a filtering machine and they were wealthier than most people I know.

Also I didn't ask what the point of YOUR post was, I do not understand the point of the OP. It seems the OP thinks that for some reason babies can't handle tap water and therefore (I guess) it means that tap water is poison? I have no idea.

Well funnily enough a couple a teaspoons is about all i would put in the bottle.

Supposed to help with wind or so i was led to believe.

Anyhoo mine are 11 and 17 now so waters not much of an issue.

If you give a baby a peanut you can kill it depending on the little fellows Donald Duck FlyersFan.

Like i said babies drink Milk from the breast or formula from a bottle.
