The obsession of wanting to destroy is not the first time for some hawks/interventionists that they had.

Even Alexander the great thought he could destroy India and even conquered, it was the opposite.

Crazy Hawk

The key to this strategy is courage. We must conquer our fears of Russian threats and escalation, of its nuclear bravado, and even of Russian collapse. We must be strategic and shrewd, but nothing can be accomplished without courage. In the words of John Paul II—the unarmed, lone old man who did so much to bring Soviet communism to its knees—“Never doubt, never tire, and never become discouraged. Be not afraid.”

Yet this NeoCon hopes that Russia will turn into a Western/American colony as many others had in Europe.

Russian literature, art, culture, and political practice are rooted in its relationship with Europe. The time may come—years or, more likely, decades from now—when a postimperial Russia will turn westward again.

Why didn’t you include the name of the crazy hawk?

Is it because it’s just an Atlantic contributor a vast majority of people have never heard of?

What you seem to have stumbled upon is something called freedom of speech. Citizens can just say that, and it is what it is.

It wasn’t a government official who has the capacity to change foreign policy.

Does anyone think the west is going to invade Russia or ever had meaningful plans to post Cold War? I don’t think most would say we intended on doing it.

So it’s a punditry piece meant to garner clicks and maybe so social cred.

This still isn’t even as extreme as Russia periodically saying they’ll use nukes. Which you could comb through my post history, I never made a big deal about it. I know what it was, saber rattling. And what this columnist piece isn’t even that, they don’t have the clout to do such a thing much less the means.

That's an important point. I don't know anyone who blames the Russian people for this mess. Those are the people who are dying for a dictator who doesn't care how many of his own citizens he kills. Putin and his cronies STARTED this with their invasion of Ukraine. They cannot possibly attain their goals. Russia has been knocked back fifty years at least and the only people they have to blame is themselves. Putin has already achieved several goals, including the strengthening of NATO. Congrats. He has also shown how inept his armed forces actually is. Saddam's Iraqi forces could have easily beaten these guys fighting with WWI tactics and their vaunted "human wave" attacks. Of course, Putin still has friends: North Korea and Iran. What an incredible clusterf*** he has made for his own legacy.

all sources be them western or other says the most russia will have will have by the end of the decade including and this is being generous 15 prototype testing aircraft they have now might be as many as 91.

The Russian government still projects to receive as many as 76 of the stealth fighter this decade, but while they were intended to field an advanced engine system designed specifically for the aircraft's stealth role, delays in the engine's development have hindered progress.
Russia's Su-57 can't compete with the US's and China's 5th-gen fighter jets, but it doesn't need to

the U.S. already has 283, and has placed a order of 400 more. that's not including the 894 ally F-35's and that was in.

The US Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin have finalized a $30 billion contract to deliver up to 398 F-35 Lightning II aircraft.

The agreement includes 145 Lot 15s, 127 Lot 16s, and 126 Lot 17s for Finland, Belgium, and Poland.

“The F-35 delivers unsurpassed capability to our warfighters and operational commanders,” F-35 Joint Program Executive Officer USAF Lt. Gen. Mike Schmidt stated.

“This contract strikes the right balance between what’s best for the US taxpayers, military services, allies and our foreign military sales customers.”

Once shipped, the future F-35s will add to the current 894 F-35s deployed globally. The latest tranche of aircraft will cap off Lockheed Martin’s contracts with Germany, Switzerland, and Finland over competing options. “Continuing to add new countries to our global F-35 fleet further validates the capability and affordability of this aircraft in providing 21st Century Security to nations and allies,” Lockheed Martin F-35 Program General Manager and Vice President Bridget Lauderdale added.

Only the one that starts the fight can end the fight. Unless someone intervenes.

But victims of domestic abuse all over the world will attest to that -- the one who starts the fight ends it. Victims don't end fights.

So, you should write to your leader and ask him to end the war. That is if you're not afraid of getting arrested and possibly murdered. I feel for you. You don't even know what freedom tastes like.

While even if I personally have no issues with the politics behind your post...I have to point out here that Russia is in 3rd place for now in the advanced aircraft game. By the time they field enough 5th Gen's we and possibly china (through stolen tech) will be fielding our 6th gens. At this point aircraft wise its not even a competition between the US and Russia. But I guess for you, being russian, you can take splice that Russian doctrine has always favored AA systems over actual aircraft.

Also a a general aircraft enthusiast I have a great respect for the ingenuity and durability of Russian aircraft. I once heard the difference between US and Russian planes described as the difference between a swiss time piece and a casio. One is delicate and intricate the other is bomb proof...

So the only real reason to destroy Russia is because they have nuclear weapons. You can blame the Manhattan Project for letting that jinni out of the bottle. How many other nations have to be destroyed because of this reason, another 10-15 maybe?

How many times does Russia have to be destroyed, there was a lot of economic devastation as the USSR moved to Russia with the cold war. What if Putin became another satanic baby eating worshiper, would that help him fit in the club a bit better than promoting orthodox christian principles.

Hi there. In my opinion as someone that lives and breathes in the US ...I love my country. But the fact that Russia and the Western World were set on a collision course from the '40 is nothing new. The so called puppet of Putin (
Vladimir Solovyov ) who is also called Putin's mouthpiece....is doing the same as our US -hawks. Any country has it's best and brightest but also the worst and the craziest. In the current context, after almost 80 years of American global influence and in a lot of areas the American dominance, of course a country like the US of A will not bow gracefully from the wold's stage. Look in history, the exit move of the Western Roman Empire or even the Eastern Roman Empire (Bizantin Empire) were violent and both of the above mentioned Empires were attacked by some crude and hungry horde of non enlightened bush-warriors. No disrespect for turks but they weren't yet at the apogee of their statal formation.
My question that still lingers in my thoughts ....do you want the western world to bow gracefully to tyrants and dictators? Do you want us to shut up in from of blatant russian aggression ? I have grown under the communism and I hate it with all my heart. Nothing good comes from it. But applied socialism...in some places made a bit of good if applied correctly as social services and some parts of the economy. Take France, Italy, Norway, Finland and Sweden. May be Denmark too. Forget about their kings and queens. They are only in a purely "for sshow -monachy" status. I still do not like socialism but I was giving examples of the western world as diverse as it is, including socialism. Look at Canada. Still there under the british rule and they are having a better medical system as affordability than USA. My point is...everywhere you will have people that talk about war. It is inevitable. It is in our genes. We all were born with it. But the fact that the western world tryied to impose it's beliefs over others is only a partial truth. I voted for NATO and EU joining for my country of birth while in it, before I came to the US. And I would do it again. Have yo lived under the russian boot...you would understand why the alternative is not an option. There can be only one, WEST. I do not agree , still, at my age and after decades of American citzenship with some of the western world liberties, but I learned to tolerate them and also to ignore some things that I do not agree with. That is why I really love all about the western world. I came here as an outsider, I made a home and I have countless friends and none of them is an russian adept or sympatizer. Not even some russian friends or chinese friends that live and are naturalized by immigration here, they are not siding to anyone else than US. Look, imagine that all you hear as russian propaganda is 10 fold worse in reality. In the country where I was born, as allied nation , still they come and conquered, plundered and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. Russians are kept under an iron fist otherwise all Russia would disintegrate in little statelets. All you can think of great russian or chinese achievements were stolen from other parts of the world. I am gonna speak my belief here and I would state that although the public opinion says that russians or chinese people are not bad in general, and only their leaders push them to do their bidding, in reality is much more complicated. What do you want the mass media to say? The majority of russians are drinking, had only 4 grades and are real cruel? The media wont say that. But that is a fact. Every war, their cruelty is proved by historical facts and proofs. Yes, it is true the chinese do not hold a candle to the russians but if you look a bit closer to Tibet and the minority of Uyghurs and the borders clashes with India will suffice to say that one is a national pride and another is a cruel people unleash against others. Put it like that: If it was in the XXI century a choice of peace ( let say in a future history book..) who broke it? Did we invade Ukraine or Russia ? Did we invaded Georgia, Chechenia or even Transnistria...or Russia Did. In the twenty first century, i am saying, not twentieth or nineteenth. Now, as we are enlightened and in the information age. Look, you have to see what I have seen. If anybody have saw the Telegram channels, uncensored with burning people, raped women and soldiers shot in the head like nazi-style, you would understand why Russia cannot be let to continue what it started and that the western world has to make a stand. Surprisingly, I agree with a person that I do not see myself aligned, the President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden. He, with all his shortcomings, said something that made me proud that he is not that senile and far gone. In NATO headquarters, around last year in May (2022) replied to an reporter: "we must not supply offensive weapons to Ukraine because we risk a nuclear conflict, putting the whole world at risk" Until now did you saw any ICBMs delivered to Ukraine? Me neither. Therefore, we still need to redo the old Department of State playbook strategy: "Let's bankrupt Russia again like in the '80s" Because a weakened Russia is going to be still an independent state, not under our influence but an state-actor that will not pose a general daily threat to it's neighbors and the world in general.
I could write tons on the subject that the everyday Westerner "expert" never felt on their own skin and I could, upon request, detail the horrors of the Russian influence since the 1800s over Eastern Europe and still have room for some more terrifying revelations about their behavior and bad influence. They robbed the country that I was born of over 45 years of freedom. Robbed countless nations of their resources and manpower. And they never apologized. Do you think the USA is a warmongering state? What about the useless UN that is a daily show of incompetence and impotence? USELESS. In the words of a great politician that foresaw the dissolving of the League of Nations in the years of the first world war....this muppet show is needed no more.
I recommend tempering anyone's mind with the following: there are trolls, diversionists, and foreign agents infiltrating every country on Earth. Nobody can deny that. But the fact that we see in ours a potential Russian agent just because the guy has a different opinion...that is already borderline paranoid. There are specialized 3 letters agencies that will tackle that kind of infiltration. We need to remain united, remain a beacon of civilization, and show the barbarians that our civilization can flourish despite their bad intentions to subvert us into chaos. I am for a strong America, and a strong Europe, and also I wish that we all get along but nothing is like in the fairytales. If needed, yes, I will serve the country that welcomed me and gave me a better home than I could have wished for. I know is hard to swallow and looks like propaganda, but this USA is still a good home for people who want to work, make a home, and live free. I do not feel constrained, I did not feel the police state ever, I am a law-abiding citizen and as my mother told me to behave, I never had a problem with anyone.
Thinking of a better way to tackle the crisis, I am thinking to start a thread regarding ways to make Russia and China GREAT AGAIN...by showing them the path to true democracy.

Yea, it’s a shame really.

Russia, who’s never operated in conquest or pillaging always destroyed by the west because of the gays and such.

Putin, a man of god, merely wants to rid the world of degenerates, but the WEF made him invade Ukraine.

It’s hard reckoning with the day by day with the trend of this world. I just wish we could live in a land of liberty like Russia, a bastion for freedom for almost decades now.

Russia is not a very difficult nut to crack for the US. The US has more than twice the population of Russia. The key is China. Russia is China's neighbor and China's policy is an invasion of China's neighbor = an invasion of China. A US invasion of Russia will certain drag China into the war. In 1950 when the US invaded North Korea the US dragged China into the war.

This is just another propaganda piece from the usual suspect. Sadly predictable and does nothing useful.

The important point to note is that WE are the people, Russian, Ukrainian, American, British, French etc etc. none of this is the fault of the people. NONE of it. Yet it is the people who fight and die for the schemes, greed and paranoia of those ruling our lives. Nobody hates Russian people. They’re great people. Most people are.

Nobody wants to invade Russia. Nobody wants to destroy Russia.

War sucks. It's brutal and violent in a way most can't understand.

I read a lot about old wars, before modern weapons.

Imagine a battle with nothing but edged and blunt weapons. Now understand that more people in the history of the world died from those weapons than any weapon we have created since the industrial revolution.

Odd right?

I've often wondered where all the bodies are...somewhere around 70 million people die each year.

That would mean, in my 46 years of life, 3.2 billion people died....kinda crazy, right?

Now imagine the history of the world and how many that would be....where are the hundreds of billions of dead people?
