"Yes.

Because modern systems are much different to those used in the Apollo missions and the effect of the belts on them need to be ascertained."

I see.

Thanks for that.

What might be strange about testing a new ship before putting people in it?

Do you think it's fake?

"Clot shots" are a bit off topic?

Why no close up images of the landing site? They seriously could put the whole "we never went to the moon" thing to bed.

There are plenty of close up pictures of the Apollo sites. The orbital parameters for this one don't put it anywhere near them. It hasn't actually entered lunar orbit as such, doesn't overfly tha landing sites and won't get close enough to the surface.

And no, if Artemis landed right next to an Apollo site and broadcast footage of it, idiots would still claim it was faked.

Indeed. I'm fairly sure that NASA is not that concerned about countering bonkers claims of Moontards.

The telemetry tells them where the spacecraft is, how fast it's travelling and how it's oriented. That can then be translated into an animation.

I think they might be triggered by that word "animation" and confusing it with CGI?

The first far side pictures were actually taken by the USSR in 1959, and it has been photographed in great details by numerous probes from many countries since then.

Exactly, I was just hoping for more pics and hopefully even higher resolution than previous efforts.

FWIW I heard during the broadcast that they expected to have images and videos but they also said they have limited bandwidth and sending that data would take away from other projects sending thier data in. IIRC

Regardless there should be Artemis pictures and vids from the far side of the moon, hopefully soon. Definitely, once it returns

till then, seeing very little from today on the Artemis1 gallery of images and videos I would assume everything is at the link below, or is there another site with more images

images.nasa.gov...,video,audio&yearStart=1920&yearEnd=2022

Hopefully, they will, but until then here's why they don't think they need to prove they landed on the moon

www.nasa.gov...

That said it doesn't mean NASA isn't hiding what happened on the moon and why we never went back, but now we are going again.

From what I understand of the orbital parameters they are rarely as close to the surface as the probes that have been sent specifically to photograph it.

People forget that anything on a rocket's payload has a mass, and therefore fuel, impact on a mission. Therr's only so much you can take with you, and anything you do add to thebpayload is t the expense of aomething else. That incudes cameras and the means to send back the photos they take. The main aim of Artemis is to establish that it's up to the job, not to take pretty pictures we already have.

As you say, hopefully there'll be better images soon, but so far the ones we have seen have been amazing.

The point with Artemis I, is to find out if a flight to the Moon would be ok for people

At 1:49 in the video
