I can tell you right now, it is unlikely to succeed. 'passive water' systems are pretty much doomed. Not trying to be a downer but.....
But don't put all your eggs in one basket until you've proven it a successful method for you to continue. As in, don't waste a lot of money. Plant some stuff in the ground for back up or other alternative growing methods. And really, Good luck!
