RIP Mr Lear.

He brought some great stories and ideas of the outlandish kind to ATS in the early years.

Oh dear....
It's definitely been a long time since he was here but I remember him fondly and had great conversations. He had the best sense of humour.

You're welcome to look.
But unlikely, as I have tried looking on four different search engines for corroboration.

His dad has a Wikipedia page.
But John Lear does not. It's odd that as Big as his presence in the UFO Area 51 community, he does not have a wiki page.

That's it??

Gosh, if it were not for Lear; Would Knapp have found Bob Lazar. Not to mention his years as a pilot and his contributions to aviation.

Edit: John Olsen Lear wiki updated 6 hours ago.. it's not much.

I feel sad for his passing, but a little sunk that I didn't know he was here.

Glad some got to enjoy his presence. It's been told over the years what a kind person he was.

Thanks for digging up corroboration.

Sad such a great man passed almost unnoticed.

Rest in Peace, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

You will be missed.

Cantankerous and irascible. That was John.

He told a great story, regardless of how you felt about the story. His influence is what attracted me to this genre, and then ATS.

Ron passed a few years ago. Im not sure him and John were still talking much. But those 2 guys really lit my imagination on fire.

RIP John. You were a great pilot, a fantastic story teller, and an all around interesting fellow

Rest In Peace, John.

John provided countless hours of entertainment and thought provoking stories.

I would never have learned so much about our moon (both facts and woo) if it were not for John's presence here on ATS long ago.

Cantankerous and irascible

I've never noticed, he seemed anxious and spastic at moments. Never thought of him being easily angered.

But I believe you more having said so. I've never met the man, but I've been hired to work their X-Mas parties. They Tip quite nicely.

He was quite active during my first few years as a member. Spoke with him privately a couple of times. Always considered myself lucky that someone of his calibre took the time to talk to me. Somewhere in the archives I'm sure you could find his posts.

He was one of the reasons I was lookin on ATS back in the day he always had decent contributions and answered your questions and gave loads of info , the man was a wealth of UFO conspiracy knowledge

sad to hear of his passing

Man his moon stuff was just so cool to read and captured my imagination , I was always a fan of the moon and probably didnt think about it in any other way until I read johns stories in ATS

I think it was because of Johns moon stories I ended up reading about Ingo Swann
and so the rabbit hole continued

Me?

That's a terribly bad idea. There are far more qualified members with almost 20 years and more here.

I might embellish a wee bit if i do.

I remember hearing him on Art Bell & was fascinated with him.
I was fortunate to see him speak at a UFO conference & I'm not sure
if he also spoke at a MUFON Los Angeles meeting?

RIP Mr John Lear you will be missed!

Cheers
Ektar

Same. Because of John i read the entire Swann compendium. That led to the Manly Hall stuff.

I read more between 2005 and 2012 than the rest of my life combined.
