once they are on the ground they are fair game, its only when under a parashoot that you cant shoot at them.

lol...

in WWll my GF's grandfather was in D DAY and also jumped into some islands in the Pacific and they would shoot at the Americans with AA guns and small arms.

he told me he saw a few of his buddies get hit by large caliber AA rounds and they just vanished

war is hell and in total war there are no rules

the Germans and Russians came up with the first explosive sniper rounds that were advertised for use only on hard targets like trucks or tanks etc.

but they would use them against people obviously(i saw the same thing in Afghanistan with a round for the 50cal called the The Rufous Mk 211 it has a tungsten penetrator, zirconium powder as an incendiary and a small amount of high explosive.

again for the use on hard targets but i personally say them used on people that were behind walls or were far away or the 'bad guy' posed a immediate risk to other marines/soldiers.

we saw a few of these hits up close and remember they are a 50 cal round just a normal lead 50 cal slug can rip you inhalf so imagine what a round like the The Raufoss Mk 211 does to a human body.

but back to WWii, if the Germans or Russians captured a sniper with the explosive rounds they would be executed on the spot as it was seen justified as the wounds were nasty and always lethal or would totally blow parts off peoples body.

a few times i had the displeasure of needing close air support and i saw what a A-10's and apache's cannon would do to a human, they were lucky if we could find a foot, the rest was like ground meat.

this invasion is going to get way way nasty maybe even past some of the things i saw and even things people saw in WWii

the Ukraine has handed out small arms and rpgs and javelins to over 10,000 citizens of Kiev as a sort of reserve army, they said they were ready to die to protect their family and country, they also said they know they cant win but will inflict as much damage to the Russians as they can.

god help them all.

Oh come on, the West's taken the piss and you know it. Let's put NATO military 'advisors' into Mexico and Canada plus arm them to the teeth and see what Washington does!

Thirty years of taking the piss, is it any wonder Putin is mad?

Oh! I see. All hail Mother Russia. Nice how the Liberal Socialists in this World have covered up the problems that can be traced back to the old USSR. If Russia got her fair share of the credit for them it might be different. FOAD.

Yeah pretty nasty. I like a custom round that was made as a experiment. called HESH. High Explosive Squash Head. Gues you could say they were a smaller version of grenade launcher ammo. high kinetic damage with shrapnel, made to detonate on soft targets. I think its against GENEVA conventions.

i know the Abrams tank still uses them for light armored stuff and buildings.

no need to waste a silver bullet on a Toyota pick up

and i THINK some RPG rounds use them still

To put it bluntly and maybe a little rudely too, NATO have taken the piss with Russia since 1991 and Putin has got every right to defend his country from further encroachment towards its borders

Does Ukraine have a right to defend its country from a KGB dictator?

I don't think Ukraine should be in NATO but this problem is 100% Putin's fault. If he had done nothing, like basically ignore Ukraine other than keep on trading, Ukraine would naturally be friendly with Russia and not go to NATO because of culture and people with relatives in both countries.

Annexing Crimea and Donbass also removed more pro-Russia voters from participating in Ukrainian elections. Putin think those don't matter but they do.

And unlike Russia, NATO won't launch any initial attack, especially against Russia, because it takes agreement of multiple democratic states to do so. Putin knows this.

HESH is a type of shaped charge munition if it is fused for impact. It is a fragmentation munition if it is fused for proximity. Some types are for impact only. The warhead is spherical. Upon impact with a flat surface the area making contact flattens and upon detonation the rest of the warhead acts as a shaped charge with the force of the charge being directed to the flattened area.

yeah they a squash explosives or that's what they called them

here is a video of the Ukrainians shooting down a jet, the SAM sounds bigger than a stinger and is more effective. Thankfully people will know to look up and see what is coming

i would be interested in finding out what SAM was used the flight speed and sound suggests something bigger than a MANPAD type launcher and missile.

maybe a Tor system?

i have seen stingers taking down Russian Hind helos and Javelins and MRLS taking out tank after tank and i have personally seen videos of at least 5 highspeed jets taken down as well as Russian POW's taken by Ukrainian special forces(alive) but the Russian Generals must be getting a big wake up call, i truly believe they thought that the Ukrainians were just going to welcome them with open arms or show no resistance

If this is one of the Ukrainian SAMs probably BUK from the USSR time.

What's intriguing about this is that the trajectory is almost straight up, with a really short flight time. Conventionally it's shot more horizontally as the goal is to intercept the aircraft at longer distances. BUK has supposedly range of 26km This looks like 1 km.

What this says to me: Russians didn't successfully find and suppress the air defenses. BUK kept itself hidden and radar off until last minute. Ukrainians are being fed very accurate real-time intelligence about location of Russian aircraft such that they can ambush them.

i was thinking that, you can just tell how dig and fast the missile could go.

Buks are old but as we know they are still deadly and very effective.

there is one over a larger body of water i saw that was for sure some sort of Buk or similar because it launched than just ripped across the sky and detonated right before and above the MiG and took it out of the sky.

lol

i wonder with the Biden sending "heavy weapons' if that will include patriot missiles or some other really advanced SAMS
