Not to seem negativve, but it seems inevitable that the ecosystems will be wiped out. People normally don't give much for the environment, dismissing people who see as "tree huggers". It will take an enivronmental catastrophe to make the whole world see. And it will probably last only a generation of two before the cycle starts all over again.

The ignorance at times is astonishing isn't it. "all i have to do is drive for a few hours and i can get lost in the huge wilderness". I can do exactly the same from my house in a country (britain) that is comparatively crowded. I could take days walking from the north of wales to the south in countryside crossing a few roads here and there. I could walk for days from the east to west of scotland and cross very few roads. So there's no problem. Hang on a minute if I went to the Amazon an area the size of wales or the highlands of scotland disappears every day! That's a DEPLETED unrecoverable area every day. Once that top soils gone that was held in place by trees its gone forever.
