Help me out here, Yes or No?

Ok, heres the deal.
Me and my friend are having a little arguement:

She says most people have heard of the country "Georgia"

And I say they have not.

Georgia is a little country in the upper right middle east, some people say it's in Asia, some say the middle east and some say Europe.

Please just answer yes or no so I can end this little debate

Yes, recall hearing of it although my geography sucks and No, I do not believe it is common knowledge in the states.

I think its in south africa. its westcoast, our eastcoast, but not on the coast maybe one or two countries in.

I really didnt know, it was fun to guess, I just looked it up.

Georgia is a former Soviet state with long history of dependence and independence, it's renowned for its food and party culture and for the longevity of its residents (at least there is one certain race that tops the bill for number of centenarians per capita).

I expect most people in the world who take an interest in the world know Georgia.

I expect few young Americans know the country Georgia, and just a few more can place the US state of Georgia on an American map.

Sad but true.

I know where it is. Its in the middle east. I used to have a map in my room and i saw it. I saw alot of countries.

Yeah, I knew.

I was in Jr High when I took geography....so much has changed since then.

I think its in eastern Europe.
