So did mine.

Chinese Citizens are not the CCP, are they?

They are victims of the CCP, unless they work for them.

My Grandfather fought in WWII so that even Chinese can live in our country peacefully, just like any other Canadian.

Pretty sure, yours thought the same...

The data is being sent back to CCP for analysis, where it is entered into their "record" for being good little worker bees.

No, Canada may not expel anyone, but should work (even lack thereof depending on the footage) performed on Canadian soil be a reason for that person, or their family members to become "undesirable" in their home country.

E.g. You performing badly at your job in Canada might mean that your brother back in China never gets employed by a company there. Basically social status guilt by association.

There is no evidence they are sending data to the CCP. Please link to evidence of that.

So a business can't send their data anywhere they want? A Canadian Citizen can send their data ANYWHERE they want to, as long as it isn't Restricted Information.

If they are spies, that's different.

If they are business owners, sending their data back home or wherever, that's up to them, and, none of your business.

I'm against the CCP, not the Chinese. Big Fn Difference, you guys need to see that.

The owner confirmed it in the OP:

"Ryan Pan, a manager with Haidilao Hot Pot in Vancouver confirmed that over 60 surveillance cameras have been installed in the restaurant at the request of the Haidilao corporation, as part of the social credit system in China."

We were given free Internet initially for a reason

Eh.. first of all, internet was never FREE, you had to always pay for it. ISP is always a business.

Secondly, initially, the internet wasn't something that was 'given to us' from above, it was just 'developed' almost by happenstance, and it just happened to grow organically, faster than anyone anticipated. Before internet and some time overlapping the internet, there were these magical little things called 'BBS'es, so the internet was basically just technology built on top of that (well, not quite, but from some perspective, almost). In essence, it was just technology doing its usual stuff - evolving.

Before the internet (and even during it), or even if the internet was never built and tested (no one foresaw how big and fast it would grow, by the way, and what it would become - and even then, it took -decades- for it to become a power to be reckoned with, or anything useful for the masses), there would still be 'online communities' that would communicate with each other utilizing modems and phone lines.

Third point I'd like to make is that the 'freedom' you probably actually refer to, is not so much a 'planned gift for the masses' as it was just a 'designed feature' to make the whole thing possible in the first place. It was necessary, it was a requirement, it was a solid philosophy on which the whole Arpanet, and later, the internet, was built and expanded upon. It could never have reached its size so quickly had it been any other way.

There's also a fourth point worth considering regarding all this - in the early days, corporations weren't interested in the internet, no 'big power' was - it was just some nerdy tech-sidelines in a world with rapidly growing all kinds of tech that not many people even paid attention to. This was a BIG reason for it being 'allowed' (instead of being given to us from above as you claim) to 'live and grow' the way it did.

By the time TPTB got any notice of it, it was too late, it had already grown too big to be instantly controlled by any one authority, and took them by surprise. I remember even big players like Kissinger cursing the internet for revealing them and their evil plans too soon.

Of course nowadays the window of opportunity that the sudden explosion of the internet's popularity opened up is rapidly closing, as TPTB has learned more and more ways to control it and use it to advange their oppressive agenda, and to make people slaves of it instad of letting it be the freedom-bringing tool it was for a long time.

Please research before writing this kind of things next time, so I don't have to be writing these correcting posts, it's embarrassing for all parties.
