I was going to post an article regarding the banning of TikTok in the US...
It seems they have come up with a far more intuitive solution, to rebrand and restructure the company free from Chinese influence. This has been a cure for a form of internet cancer.

Donald Trump said he’s approved Oracle Corp.’s bid for the U.S. operations of TikTok “in concept,” a deal forced by the president’s orders last month declaring the popular video-sharing app a national security threat.

“I have given the deal my blessing,” Trump told reporters Saturday as he left the White House for a campaign rally in Fayetteville, N.C. “I approved the deal in concept.”

The Chinese government must now sign off on the transaction for it to go forward.

The new company, which would be called TikTok Global, according to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, will be the result of a transaction forced by Trump last month over national security concerns about TikTok’s ownership by ByteDance Ltd., a Chinese company.

How many of you use Tik-Tok? I didn't know what it was until last month, when the news broke about the Trump Admin shutting it down, and an uproar started.

It's a platform to exploit talentless people to make money.
Much like youtube/twitch ect.

God forbid these people have to do manual labor, i guess they would rather die..

Trump seemed to contradict that on Saturday. “It will have nothing to do with China, it’ll be totally secure, that’ll be part of the deal,” he said. “All of the control is Walmart and Oracle, two great American companies.”

REALLY?

Walmart China “firmly believes” in local sourcing with over 95 percent of their merchandise coming from local sources. In America, estimates say that Chinese suppliers make up 70-80 percent of Walmart's merchandise, leaving less than 20 percent for American-made products.

It’s a platform for people to get noticed and then make money.

Some ladies on onlyfans are making 100k a year by using tik tok to drive traffic over to onlyfans.

It’s big business

Not my monkey, not my circus (tiktok).

Do find it odd that a president is signing off on a business deal though, in this context at least.

While I don't necessarily care about tiktok as I find it cringy, I just hope this doesn't become a precedent.

So they use a Chinese spy app to attract lonely neckbeards, then they send them to onlyfans (essentially patreon for porn or erotica), make money cam whoring, and how is that not exactly what Fisherr described?

I don't use the thing myself, but the weans love it, and since lockdown came around, apparently rather a few adults ta boot.

People can simply use a VPN to circumvent the banning of the app or just download the APK file from sources other than the apps store and install that way around.

I don't see this ban being implementable really.

Thank-you. I thought it was just a "toy" to entertain yourself and friends.

Yep...The lock-downs have opened up new ways for generating income from home. Apparently Tik-Tok is one of them. Thanks for the info!

Do you not understand the word CHINA?

Or are you like Biden who has said that a strong China is the best thing for the world...lol

I think there is a lot more to worry about the Gov taking control over with Biden and company in charge... geez

Well no...Trump says even if Facebook Twitter is left learning he wants to protest them because they are AMERICAN companies..

His words....

So what is your point when dealing with a Chinese company?

Facebook already has it covered, Instagram Reelz or Reels. I don't recall. But check out those booty shorts on that girl!

Oh wait, is TikTok pornhub or do they have a version of Tiktok...?

Asking for a friend.

Look, in the grand scheme of things, this is low on my priority list, just throwing my quick opinion out about it. We have other priorities right now. And while I do agree China is probably our biggest external threat, I don't think the deal for Tiktok is a major win in any way. Something tells me there is more to this.

I'm not just skeptical of this because it's Trump doing it, I'd question it as I always have and always will whoever is in power. And while we're on the subject,

Is this going to block China from access to US data? Maybe a little for a little while. Is this going to open up the same access to the data for chosen US companies and my guess our own government for scratching their backs? Probably. Maybe some view that as at least a win for US corporations, well it is for them and not for you. Your data just got more recipients, and those benefiting from it are the same ones that sold us out long ago.

The media has made it a big deal, not Trump. There was a good amount of security concerns with it and the Amin said either you sell to an American company or it is banned. It is now owned by an American company..is that a bad thing?
