The UN has been a force for good in the world.
Umteen links have been put on to this thread showing this (as they are everytime this boring old chestnut gets trotted out).
It is flawed, but then as a human construct attempting to promote unity of purpose in a deeply divided world how could it not be?
'The UN' is it's members, not an independant sovereign body.
....and who is kidding who here? Some of the UN's flaws are directly as a result of US and western politicing and double-dealing over the years. The
truth is that any examination of events shows that ultimately the western wealthy countries have always had the 'whip hand'.
But today it seems certain Americans are only interested in cooperartives and working with others if they can totally dictate everything that
happens.
Even in terms of footing the bills it appears things are now so perverted with some that the idea is out there that all should pay equally.
Obviously the notion that 'the broadest backs should carry the greatest loads' is a tad too difficult to grasp for some.
Somalia to pay the same as the USA?
it would be funny if it hadn't been said.
How sad, how narrow and just how plain damn petty, small and mean.
How typical of that minority 'element' making so much noise in the USA today.
(cos the truth is they are not the majority, everybody knows this, right?
They're handed over their own US gov to business and it has become so detached from people's everyday lives they can barely engage with 50% of your
own people; and yet they prefer to ignore this as inconsequential.
Jayzus wept.
Laughably sad or what?
Still carry on, knock yourself out, you were saying?
The relatively powerless UN is the source of todays ills was it........? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
