Here's my submission. It's longer than 100 words but it's as short as I could tell it. Hope it's enjoyed.

First off, I enjoyed your submission even if it was a bit over 100 words, ( I counted; 554 words 3,102 characters).

Second, sadly we'll not be able to accept it in this current Contest, but I certainly hope you'll keep writing and posting and maybe the next contest will not be so word stringent. You get honorable mention for a story that far exceeds all other's in words alone!

Let's just hope that no one notices the "You get honorable mention for a story that far exceeds all other's in words alone!"

Some dastardly character may take it as a challenge to be bested.

I'm pretty curious what the overages will be to remain qualifiable, a strict cutoff at 100, or a degree of leniency.

My original was around 180, trimmed to 150, 140, 120, 113, 109, 105, 103...and 100. lol

I'm voting 102.

The two over being the mandatory "The End", which should be a freebie.

I'd go with 103, if generous. 100 because those are the rules.

"The End" doesn't count, since it's a mandatory inclusion and not part of the story itself.

I suppose this is the bakery now and not the writers contest.

"Here's my 101 word story."

"It's supposed to be 100 words."

"Writer's centum don't you know."

Or rather, "Here's my 101 word story."

"Great, enter it in the 101 word contest. This the 100 word contest."

Acually, votes (stars, flags) determine the winner. So it kind is a democracy. A real one.

"Campfire Tale: What shall we do with the losers?"

The losers were marched to the stage dressed in the best clothing their loved one virtually provided.

A fire burned. The wind was calm.

There was silence from the crowd.

"Last Words!" was the call from the cloaked person holding a burned marshmellow in one hand a charred wiener in the other.

"Burn them!" the crowd yelled.

The accused, before sentence, bellowed in retort, "ATSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!"
