Other neighbors let their bull out, so now Jack and him are at war. The fence is a minor inconvenience.

Dammit!

They have more cows than we do, so Jack is very interested.

Dang it!...I'm screwed!!

“Who let the bulls out?...

Toro, Toro, Toro!...”

With apologies, I just couldn’t help it.

I’ll let myself out.

Our neighbor's mule showed up in our driveway, last week.

He was making friends with one of our arabians... and, he was very polite.

We put a halter on him, and walked him home.

I love this place.

And that "flipper" is GONE!!

He didn't bust a fence, he jumped (apparently) over a sagging gate.

I frickin rode probably 30 miles on the ATV looking for him, and never even saw a sign of him!

Honestly, we may have to call the Brand Inspector on this one! ...and I'm not happy!

...and this is no joke, no bravado, no BS, either!!!!!

This is not good.

He's nowhere to be found.

Most "city folk" don't know this... there is a VERY specific reason, that we put bells on cows.

"Why?", you ask... it's simple. Their horns don't work.

I saw that in the "Farmer's Almanac"... so... I'm pretty sure that is factual.

All the girls came in tonight, but Jack was nowhere to be found.

I should have known earlier when the calves came running across the pasture and their momma's came running after them, bawling the whole way. That was around noon, and I went out to look for Jack, but just figured he was up in the high pasture eyeballing the girls or scrapping with the neighbor bull.

Now I'm worried. That neighbor bull is not a nice boy, and Jack may be in trouble.

He was gone, GONE, tonight. Like really, REALLY, gone!!!

Tonight we have no idea where he is. Heck, I rode my ATV so far I was in a different county, handing out my cards and asking people to call me if they see him. I'm actually really worried about Jack tonight!!

I'd hate to lose that big boy, he's been a good sire, but he's running with some rough company tonight, and he's not a spring chicken anymore (he's 13 years old)

the girls all came back tonight, and so did the little ones. They never stray far, but wow...Jack is GONE!!

He could surprise us and be back in the morning, but I'm doubting it right now.

I just hope he doesn't get torn up by some young buck. That would truly be a shame!

This one is no joke, no bravado...he's missing...and we are VERY worried!

Earlier tonight we found a wire gate which looked like someone jumped over it. It's not our gate, but a gate which is an adjoining fence (which we share maintenance of). This particular gate has been pretty solid, but bulls will be bulls...so we don't know what happened exactly, but the gate was pulled down to about 2.5 feet off the ground, so someone went over it...and Jack is gone. 1,700 acres east of us, and I rode that whole damn property I think...didn't see him. Then it got dark and I had to come back. Wife went the other way, and she didn't see anything either. I talked to every neighbor and household I could find. Nothing.

Jack is missing.

NOT good!!

Never lost a bull or a cow, though I have spent many a hour tracking down free ranged horses. Actually, some of the best hours of my life were spent in the saddle, riding over hills and through valleys hunting down my herd. Good excuse to just get in the saddle and wander.

Damn, you got me waxing nostalgic here. This song always brings me back to those times...

If you can entice some of those cows to your side of the fence, you can charge your neighbor for stud service...For Jack, that is...

Supposed to be a 3rd quarter moon tonight, but it doesn't come up until 8am. So it's dark as sh** out tonight! Pitch black. Can't see a damn thing right now.

Went out to look for him just now, and he's nowhere to be found. Girls aren't happy either. They all followed me and the wife up to the high pasture and when we were calling him, they were bawling loudly too. Nothing.

This sucks!!
