Transferable through semen........Ummm durrrr..... Did they go straight to intercourse? Or was there foreplay?

This is moot.

haha hadn't noticed that! still...its been such a long time....

Nope its blood only. I can't even find anything as to why these researchers had tested the mens semen I can only presume it was because it was known to be found in recovered Ebola cases for up to 3yrs

But its not moot if it is still viable after recovery...or alleged recovery, or even worse for months or years later like with Ebola

Unless of course its discovered that the virus can interfere with reproduction

If Gates had anything to do with it — you can guarantee it did.

"...covid-19 is mainly carried in the mouth and nose, so the possibility that oral sex could be infectious is...."....impossible with that damn mask!

Then there's the full body condoms...nothin' gets thru!

Sorry...I'll go...

The porn industry is alive and well. There has been an increased interest in "Quarantine" porn.

Aye well I'm sure the God Botherers will rejoice if yet another sexually transmitted killer disease is found, no doubt it'll be a message from the Sky Fairy to stop procreating around, just like they claimed with HIV

What does your atheistic view point have to do with this thread?
Now if I would have said something as ignorant an predigest as you have, I probably would have had my comment deleted or worse.
Just
the hatred.
Sheeesh.

Could the test kits itself be flawed?

You didn’t get my point. Let’s be PG here. People usually kiss before having intercourse. The virus is already in their mouth before it’s in their........

Because it happened in the 80's. Because its recorded that the religious almost went to war against gays and there could well be a resurgence of hatred in this case at some point, with the immune and non-immune

But if you meet someone and they are to all intents and purpose immune, if there is no trace of the virus in the blood tests but unknowingly there is still "live" virus in the semen or vaginal fluid, then we could have problems

I’m not following. If it’s in their semen, they will test positive for it. How could they not?

Its called humour maybe you should try it, if your faith is so strong nothing I say matters. In a world where so little can be criticised or even commented upon I take my humour where I find it
On a more serious note, maybe you aren't old enough to remember the huge outcry from the religious types when AIDS hit and the nasty discrimination gays suffered. This virus could have a similar effect

That wasn't humor, that was intentional debasing of a belief system you don't accept. Sorry, you can't deny that. And since you know absolutely nothing about me, I have a great sense of humor, a bit dark at times, but never to the point of ridiculing a specific group of people. And yes, I am old enough to remember what was going on. I was graduating from high school in 1981 around the time the virus was discovered. I didn't agree with the hate toward gays and blaming Aids on them, nor does my faith (which is strong most days) tell me to do things like that. I don't play that card. It's too bad you feel it necessary to do so.

I don't know but apparently they don't test positive in the blood tests but 4 were found to test positive in the semen. As the Op says, they are still researching as to why this would be the case, and also whether the presence of the virus in the semen was higher at a more chronic stage of the disease or lower recovery stage or even after recovery like Ebola.

Nope I was being funny because I find most religions funny, and I personally dislike interfering God botherers who use their religion to oppress and attack others. If that upset you or you felt insulted then I unreservedly apologise to you

I know, it happens all the time. That's why I said she must have never dated a Catholic or Baptist.

I was on Twitter a few days ago when that girl in Dallas opened her salon back up and got arrested. My response was "Lord forbid she opens her business at her own risk to make money again" and the first response was some Seattle guy who called me a thick headed inbred #### because my profile says I'm a Baptist. I told him I was glad my personal views drive his insecurities through the roof.

They just can't help themselves.

LOL! Yeah, as a recovering Catholic (non-denominational for me these days) I get it. I don't push my beliefs on anyone, I expect others to act the same. If someone disagrees with me, so be it but I will call them out if they go off on a rant.

I would genuinely suggest looking into PCR tests, the controversies surrounding them for years, the names that have been involved then and now, etc.

Too few are looking at the tests and testing methodology itself.

There's nothing you can say to me that will upset or offend me. You may think it was funny, but nobody other than angry atheists think it is. And not even all atheists, some don't say anything because - well - just because you can say certain things doesn't mean you should.

I have to agree with you on one point though, I also think any religion or people of any religion that oppress or harm others in the name of their religion have allowed their skewed beliefs to contaminate the common sense part of their brain. Distorted doctrine will do that to those who let it. That's why I can't stand man-made doctrine and why I currently don't go to church.
