But being a pussy about getting set straight for being rude, you claim victimhood. Think about it.

You just used a reference of a womans body parts in a negative manner.
That is highly sexist
You should be cancelled!

see the issue? no nuances.
Being polite and civil, I am on board with. Lets not pretend you don't know the difference between that and a full fledged SJW is though. You know the type. Granted, they aren't as prevalent as claimed by the right..but neither is the ultra neo-con either in society. The people online are fringe..and the fringe have the loudest voices..and of course the loudest voices get all the spotlight.

Lets admit first off that both sides of the aisle has a majority of pretty normal folks that are unheard, and then you got the bats--t insane people that become youtube famous for making the entire side they try to represent look like morons.

That is why one isnt a SJW for expecting politeness. Or are you saying that the OPs encounter was with a SJW, because that one told a mod he was called a name? This definition is what my post was about.

Add: This term is used because it implies "being sensible". It is not bad at all.

Well I didn't see any area where he said he was being impolite.
Being labelled a racist/homophobe/etc is pretty much the kneejerk reaction. Same with snowflake/socialist on the flipside.

He did not say that but you tell me if this is polite

So last week I was on another site and I called someone a stupid kid. Bam I got modded and suspended for insulting someones intelligence.

Again:

Insulting someone, then get the punishment handed and then cry/rant that the world is so sensible? No hypocrisy visible?

I agree.

You're just being a snowflake.

Claiming the internet isn't real to you doesn't stop the fact you're butthurt and doing the same thing you accuse others are doing.

Then again sports are not real either, I guess when an athlete gets injured they should stop being such a pansy right? I mean adults crying over stuff that's not even real... Pathetic right?

Fact is their was always somebody on the other end of the screen and I feel no sympathy for your inability to get away with ignorance.

Yeah I remember the wild west web days too, I was a kid learning to grow up. The internet has always been a place for pussies, the same kind of people who can be confrontational on the phone but absolute # sacks in real life who probably couldn't beat an egg. Bullying is bullying. And bullying behind anonymity is the lowest of the lows.

Get a grip, learn some civility and act online as you'd act in real life. Because frankly you don't sound like you've got a jaw of steel. I mean seriously your name is wantsome and you're bitching because you can't bully online like the good ol' days.

Hilarious.

Right? Even as a kid on AOL I knew to behave and that these are actually humans on the other side of the connection.

If one can not muster the courage to say it into someones face directly, dont type it. The idea, that I am less human just because I sit in front of a panel that fires photons at me during a conversation, is a strange one....

The only reason they can be so tough is because they are in their safe-space. Treat others like you want to be treated.

Except our ATS comedy clan, who could be mad at them.

I miss the wild west period of the internet. People who get offended now would absolutely be horrified by visiting any board back then. I was born in 1990, but where I lived the internet wasn't really a household commodity until the late 90s early 2000s. I was one of the first to get internet in my house. Just like people used to have to take turns on the phone, we had to take turns on the computer, and even then phone calls took precedence.

Now most people have grown up having access to the new internet at just a finger tap away.

People in general are a lot more sensitive than they used to be. Group up and attack each other on the internet. It's a lot easier to find a group online where you're in an echo chamber 24/7. Anyone who doesn't agree with you can be labelled wrong, evil, or an idiot.

I did not experience this. I had this bubble called AOL chat around me, these were all moderated by adults. Kind of kept me in that bubble I think, in perspective to your experience.

Back then, did people also tell others to kill themselves? There has been a lot of misery because of things like that.

For the youth these days online is a part of their life, everyone they live with, work with, study with are online it's not just about echo chambers and people being overly sensitive.

There's no safe space from the internet and psychologically that's a very dangerous thing. In essence you can't blame people for wanting safe spaces or defending their bit of cyber space rigourously because outside of their bubble the internet is still vicious, people are still vicious. Ultimately the internet has but human interaction into hyper speed. The sensitivity?

A lot of what I see is coping and defensive mechanisms. It's not that people get triggered it's actually more like people are primed.

I was a bit late to the whole www thing, I just discovered girls and the other things that come with mid to late teens. However I did see a couple of execution videos due to my brother. Kids shouldn't see that.

I also saw some nasty harassment at times, girlfriend's and friends being sexually harassed. Cyber bullying and unfortunately a couple of breakdowns and a suicide all because of a lesser regulated internet.

People can be sick especially when they think they can get away with it. Btw I read on another thread who you are and your uncle
welcome back! I hope all is well
