Yes we already addressed that, you have 1 source saying the infection rate is 10x to 100x higher... and I already stated that that is a wild guess, which is why there's such a huge margin for error (10x vs 100x) and you carry on as though it must surely be on the higher end around 100x with no good reasoning... what if it's only 10x? And even that's just a guess... what if it's lower? You're gambling with potentially millions of lives here, are we just to trust that you know the truth based on seemingly nothing else but your gut feeling?

But that doesn't take into consideration anything else that makes the novel coronavus more dangerous than the flu (don't just look at the death rate), OR what I've repeatedly brought up about the ICU/medical resources being overwhelmed. You're so caught up in your blinders you seem to think this is just a debate about which is more deadly, the flu vs the coronavirus (no it's about the potential threat to human lives the coronavirus poses)... and you've clearly got some outlandish ideas about the World to believe all the World's medical specialists and scientists are either all equally incompetent or in on some grande conspiracy to be advising literally every damn Government to be taking this as seriously as they are.... get a grip on reality and open your eyes.

You're clearly in denial and I'm not wasting anymore time with you.

Ok so Columbia University scientists aren't good enough?

Hmmm how about Ceders Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in conjunction with Peking University in Beijing ?.

They're on my side arguing the infection rates way higher than reported, and thus the death rates way lower than reported.

I dunno maybe the University of Toronto has a point about it?

University of Sweden et al.

Do I really have to link this many saying it's way higher than confirmed?

You're still not getting it... I've already stated the number of infected is likely higher than the confirmed cases, the point is how much higher? The answer is, noone knows... they're all estimates with wildly large margins for error! The difference between 10x higher and 100x higher could mean the difference between 200,000 deaths and 2,000,000 deaths... but once AGAIN you're ignoring the other points I've made, so either re-read my previous posts and actually address them or just admit you've got no rebuttals other than the same tiring crap about the flu vs coronavirus death rates.

You linked the highly questionable Vox graphics that were already debunked in other threads which are abusing statistics to spread fear while completely ignoring estimated infection rates.

You made this into what it is.

I've supplied tons of sources and you only had a misleading graphic from a very disreputable source. That's all you actually supplied.

The only thing I'm ignoring is Fear.

They could call it the Sytokine Flu, or SytoStorm then as it is causing Sytokine storms to happen.

I kinda like the "Asian Panvasion" though.

When you choose, like our president, to call this virus "China Flu" or names referencing China in a derogatory tone, you are also speaking of the culture. We have many Chinese descendants here who are being targeted because of their Asian looks and/or heritage.

The New York Times had an article yesterday concerning the abuse Asians are suffering because the MSM has depicted them as the cause of the virus.

To continue to abuse an entire people is foolish and racist. We really don't know where this began just that China seems to have suffered the most so far. The news today states that China has no new cases. Good news that we should be working with.

The cute little names to denigrate an entire county is disgusting; and not cute.

Is this really what you want to teach your children? Are we back to being ugly Americans?

Spanish flu started in northern China in 1917.
It was brought to Europe along with tens of thousands of Chinese workers used behind the Canadian, British and American lines.

If it's a cold virus, why does it have damn near zero symptoms in common with a cold, but is damn near identical to the flu? Heck one of the things going around is not to worry about the sniffles, as that's a cold symptom and not associated with Corona.

I mean if Corona resembled a cold at all, which it doesn't I could see it, but it doesn't.

A culture could rape, murder, enslave others, and practice open cannibalism, and you're the type to call everyone racist if they were to say a bad thing about said culture.

Not a thing wrong with calling out other cultures when they do bad, or taking actions to protect your country from their negative behaviors.

Also calling out a country is not the same thing as calling out people with that countries heritage. Just because an American has Chinese heritage makes them no less an American and I think you'll find few who think any differently than I do on that matter. I'd like to think we've moved on from such nonsense.

Did you even bother to read the Nat Geo article?

In the new report, Humphries finds archival evidence that a respiratory illness that struck northern China in November 1917 was identified a year later by Chinese health officials as identical to the Spanish flu.

Its not exactly a "cold virus," of which there are hundreds, but it is a coronavirus.

Some common colds are also a coronavirus. I believe some are even in the influenza family, which is kind of interesting.

It's strange that people are so Hung up on this being called the Chinese virus, I don't get it, maybe it's a defense mechanism to focus on something trivial instead of the issue at hand.

Funny how I usually agree with you but don't understand how this subtle name change doesn't bother you...

This isn't about political correctness or anything. This virus has been know as the corona virus from the get-go (when it was still China's problem)

Pretty fast wu-flu and kungflu came about and I can appreciate the humor behind it.

But now, all of a sudden, it's becoming the Chinese virus...

It has an intend behind it. The intend to blame....

I'm not sure if we should be bothering with pointing fingers right now.

Peace
