My one dangerous moment in this Middle East mess was when a tri-wall containing some medical equipment was being processed by 3 LN's on the flight line in Kabul to be sent directly to my area in the hospital.
(LN is Local National for those unfamiliar)

They had set an IED.

They screwed up the timer.

And blowed themselves all up.

I'm out some serious equipment I was using to try to save to soldiers lives, and 3 mother-f###ing assholes just killed themselves trying to kill me and my men.

Never trusted another LN after that, Afghan army, the same. Heard too many horror stories that never made the news.

My heart goes out to the brave souls who have lost their lives today and as for the rest?

I hope they rot in hell.

I can't even imagine.

I can thank you and every other person who's 'served' for your service - but I just can't imagine what it would be like to serve in combat.

My heart goes out to the families who're waiting for the report of their loved ones...

I was a route clearance commander in this area. We rolled out of FOB Fenty. Dangerous area. I rarely saw SF. Every now and then one would ride along with us but I never saw them or knew their missions. If I had to guess they likely went to raid an area but it was set up as an ambush. The intel really sucked when I was there. I honestly just ignored most of it and used common sense. Only thing I paid attention to was the type of attacks in the area.

I remember one time the Taliban raided a smaller FOB in the area. They did some damage but the next day they paid for it. We leveled everything in that area within a 2 mi radius. And when I say everything I mean everything. All their dirt homes, shops...everything. Probably the only time I saw the rules of engagement thrown out the window. If we did more of that this would have ended a long time ago. Only thing they respect is uncommon lethal force. After that bombing things got quiet around there for a while.

Why are we in Afghanistan. FYI dozens of farmers in Afghanistan were killed by drone strikes. It sucks that 2 Americans died recently.

But we are killing innocents all the time in the name on terror. Can anyone explain why we are in Afghanistan?

We spend so much time arguing left vs right politics that we forget Bush , Obama, and Trump have all been willing participants in the endless war on Terror.

He is trying, and if you can't admit that, get some help for your TDS.

Pulling out of the ME attacks the very heart of the deep state, and they are working overtime to make sure that doesn't happen.

Trump has been very reserved when it comes to what is happening over there, but I do think he just needs to order a full pull-out, and fire every single deep state military officer who tries to argue against it immediately, and replace them with someone who agrees with the non-intervention principle.
