Satan means adversary, and is not a being but an idea or attitude. Historically Satan has been used as an adjective describing people or philosophies that challenge the status quo. "Satanic" "Unholy" "Devilry" etc, all just different labels for the same reaction to unorthodox practices.

Technically "Satan" means "Resister". In many places in the Hebrew Scriptures, the word sa·tanʹ appears without the definite article. Used in this way, it applies in its first appearance to the angel that stood in the road to resist Balaam as he set out with the objective of cursing the Israelites. (Nu 22:22, 32) In other instances it refers to individuals as resisters of other men. (1Sa 29:4; 2Sa 19:21, 22; 1Ki 5:4; 11:14, 23, 25) But it is used with the definite article ha to refer to Satan the Devil, the chief Adversary of God. (Job 1:6, ftn; 2:1-7; Zec 3:1, 2) In the Greek Scriptures the word sa·ta·nasʹ applies to Satan the Devil in nearly all of its occurrences and is usually accompanied by the definite article ho.

The Scriptures indicate that the creature known as Satan did not always have that name. Rather, this descriptive name was given to him because of his taking a course of opposition and resistance to God. The name he had before this is not given.

But of course, an "adversary" is an enemy that contends with or resists; an antagonist or opponent. The Hebrew word for “adversary” (tsar) comes from a root meaning “harass; show hostility to.” (Nu 25:18; Ps 129:1) The Greek word an·tiʹdi·kos primarily refers to an “adversary at law” in a legal case (Lu 12:58; 18:3), but it can refer to others who are adversaries, or enemies, as in 1 Peter 5:8.

The most wicked Adversary, Satan the Devil, caused men and angels to join his opposition to God and man. Satan first showed his opposition in the garden of Eden, where, through cruel and underhanded action, he led Eve and then Adam into a course of rebellion that brought sin and death upon all mankind. In the courts of heaven Satan displayed his antagonism, charging Jehovah with bribing Job for his loyalty, a charge which became an issue of universal importance.—Job 1:6-11; 2:1-5.

I don't think I'll bother responding to the numerology nonsense of the OP, other than reminding everyone that 666 is the number of the image of one of the beasts mentioned in Revelation 13, not Satan (there are 2 beasts mentioned in that chapter, an image of one of those beasts and a dragon, the dragon is obviously Satan, the image of the wild beast mentioned towards the end is the League of Nations which later became the UN, long story*).

*: some details from 29:00 - 42:10 (remember that this speech is from 1942, when the League of Nations was basically disbanded and the UN was not yet founded):

Religious books are about spiritualism, not about promoting fear of monsters and ghosts. So you need comprehend the words in light of spiritualusm. Genesis tells us that mans soul is trapped within a human body that hungers for egoism instead of light. The creation of man is 666. Revelation is Johns endeavour to free himself of the beasts that have trapped his soul.

Lucifer was an angel, but I dont believe Lucifer is satan. Satan was before lucifer came to be. And, while angels dont have free will, it is still possible for lucifer to lead a rebellion against god, if god wanted the rebellion to begin with.
Maybe the mistake we make is thinking that God is perfect in all things. That he doesnt strive to grow and learn. He can create worlds. He can create living creatures. But, he cannot gain anything he doesnt already have if he has total control of his creation. He needs an opposing force to challenge him, one with some free will, one that can add some randomness, some surprises, to the experiment.. in pops satan into the story. One not as powerful or great as he, but one that can have enough influence that he can pull the creation a bit away from gods total control. Next, is the angels, still pretty much tied to gods will, and god wills to allow satan to have some for his use. Now the stage is set for the ultimate free willed creature, man... sure to add more than enough randomness and discovery to occupy god throughout the ages...

We dont accept what we are, not really. There must be more to us. Why is there that thumping in our chest? What are we made up of? We've dissected our dead, invented microscopes, and studies every part of us, as well as the rest of creation.. think of us as cells under gods microscope.
He knows that somehow, whatever he desires manifests itself for him, but how... so he invents time for his cells to dwell in the confines of and studies the processes under the microscope of time. He knows that all those emotions we feel so acutely are a part of him, but within him they blend together so perfectly they are indistinguishable as separate components. Through studying us, he can identify those components as individual energies

Huh, so the beast is reflective of humanity's aspirations to be god...
Perhaps then, in this context, the beast et al. is technology? As in, humans replacing god by said means?
Think Tree of Knowledge, Tower of Babel and the beast image of Revelations Chapter 13.
Just spitballing...

a reply to: Lazarus Short

found in the Bible (Job 1 and 2) that Satan appeared before God along with the other Sons of God. God asked him where he had come from, and he replied that he had been walking around on the Earth. He is not the Prince of Hell, not even of Heck. This Earth is his range of operation, until he is tossed into the Lake of Fire. BTW, the LoF is not Hell.

Not quite right Lazarus,
All of the first invasion of Satan's were cast into Sheol [Hell] where they are today. This includes the Satan that was mentioned in Job.

When the Sons of God [good angels] presented themselves to report to the Creator, the Satan of the first rebellion also was called before the Creator. All adversaries of the Creator of the first creation are called Satan's and all adversaries of the seeds of Adam are called Anti Christ. The correct translation of the MSS of Job is written as follows.

Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

All spiritual entities who are against the will of the Creator are Satan's. The Creator knew exactly where this Satan had been and when Satan admitted that he was in the hell of Sheol and walking back and forth and up and down in the earth, he verified to the congregation of Sons of God that he was indeed a prisoner in the earth. I believe the purpose of this was to show the Sons of God the power of the Creator and the penalty for disobedience.

The Satan's do not have the power to roam the face of the earth. They are imprisoned as shown in Jude the brother of the Christ.

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
