Good for them and quite an achievement IMO. If you look at history when things started advancing it was because of a perceived threat or an actual war. Maybe this new space race will get other countries off their butts and thinking about a serious advancement into space and maybe even figure out a way to stop an asteroid from killing us all ?

"We don't need no stinking Space Force !" (sarc)

China Friday launched one of the world's most powerful rockets in a major step forward for its planned mission to Mars in 2020.

The heavy lift Long March 5 rocket carrying a test satellite payload blasted off from the Wenchang launch site on the southern island of Hainan at 8:45 pm (1245 GMT), a livestream from state broadcaster CCTV showed.

The Long March 5, which is capable of carrying up to 25 tonnes, is comparable in capacity to the US-made Delta IV Heavy and Russia's Proton-M, some of the most powerful launchers in existence, according to NASASpaceFlight.com.

China is the undisputed most powerful country in the World.
In what ways? Economically? Militarily? Scientifically? Technologically? Politically? Culturally? Does it have powerful allies? Is its economy vulnerable to trade embargoes and naval blockades? Does it have the best universities and laboratories?

Our socialist friend has never been correct on anything politically related, why would you bother on their emotionally skewed opinion concerning geopolitics?

Current American heavy lift launch vehicles:

Atlas V — 45,000 lb. LEO; first flight in 2002; 80 successful launches, 1 partial failure

Falcon 9 — 50,000 lb. LEO; first flight in 2010; 75 successful launches, 1 failure, 1 partial failure; reusable first stage

Delta Heavy — 63,000 lb. LEO; first flight in 2004; 9 successful launches, 1 partial failure

Falcon Heavy — 140,000 lb. LEO; first flight in 2018; 3 successful launches, 0 failures; reusable boosters and first stage

In the near future the USA will be rolling out five more heavy lift space launch vehicles: OmegA, with a planned payload of 17,000 to GEO (can’t find the LEO payload anywhere); Vulcan, with a planned payload of 76,000 lb. to LEO; the partially reusable New Glenn, with a planned payload of 99,000 lb. to LEO; the SLS, with a planned payload of about 290,000 lb. to LEO; and the fully reusable Starship/Super Heavy vehicle, with a planned payload of 330,000 lb. to LEO.

I forgot that feelings are more important than reality in the leftist realm.

Yeah. Who wants to bet that it's not made out of recycled, condensed Beijing smog and will actually turn to dust on any real space mission just like the majority of China made consumer products do just sitting on a shelf for a few months?
