Another example of the news headline not being truthful.
Clapping banned at Oxford University to stop people being triggered
Is not remotely the same as
The motion to ‘mandate the encouragement of silent clapping’ was successfully passed by the university’s student union officers,
following their first meeting of the year on Tuesday.
It will come apply at student union events, and if successful, rolled out to other societies and events.
The new rule doesn't apply to Oxford University; just the student union events at Oxford University.
The new rule doesn't ban clapping at student union events at Oxford University; it just mandates the encouragement of silent clapping at student union
events at Oxford University.
So at the start of ever student union event at Oxford University someone must stand at the podium and remind the audience that clapping might bother
people.
The head line should read:
Oxford University student union mandates that all events be opened with a reminder that some in attendance msy have anxiety disorders.
But than who would click on that? These news outlets know what they are doing and they don't care if they ruin society as long as they make a buck.
