You misunderstand. One of the motifs in the fundamental christian faith is that of the dying jesus, the suffering god. The jesus passion indeed is entirely the suffering and dying god. Its a powerful idea and concept. Intruigingly, this 'death cult' is being 'worked on' by at least a similar idea.

Tho I do notice that protestants tend to focus on the resurrection, hence the empty cross, whereas one could argue that catholics focus on the 'passion;, hence the suffering christ on even the pope's staff, or the poularity of works like the pieta.

IOW if I was having a conversation with jesus and I said 'you are the dead and ever dying god' he'd say 'ah, glad you noticed, I felt that that was an important aspect', not 'bwa I am alive sinning bastard now [toss] into a lava lake with ya mwa ha'.
