Germany:

Rammstein (rock)
The Scorpions (rock)*
Die Toten Hosen(rock)
Die Aerzte(rock/punk)
Cloud7 (GOA/progressive trance)
Revolverheld (mixed)
Sportfreunde Stiller (Indierock)
Juli (pop/mixed)
JBO (fun cover rock)
Fanta4 (German HipHop)

and then some that are not bands but single DJs that would blow this list up too much.

Also but I dislike
Silbermond (pop)
Böhse Onkelz (rock)
Tokio Motel (commercial garbage)
Modern Talking (pop)*
Spider Murphy Gang (fun)
Scooter (techno)

*not active anymore

Apart from Rammstein obviously I actually know Toten Hosen, Aertze and Sportfreunde Stiller.

I dated a girl from Leipzig way back in 2003.

Another song I can recall is Sonnen Allee.

Just a few Canadian bands worth mention.

Last, but not least.

I was introduced to Cowboy Junkies way back in 1995 by a little film called Natural Born Killers

Will give the rest a listen asap.

I'm a big fan of American "newgrass", or new bluegrass as some call it. Here are a few of my favorites:

(Greensky are from Michigan and TBT are from Minnesota).

Also this is a beautiful song. Over 7 minutes long and it doesn't have a chorus!

From Japan. Not my neck of the woods, but one of my favorite hard rock bands this century. Don't let the costumes fool you, these girls are serious musicians. Serious enough that Jimmy Page is a fan and goes to their concerts.

Now that is some serious talent.

Those girls can play alongside anyone.

Can't say I'm ever gonna sing along to those lyrics but they are very good at what they do.

You're from South Africa, and Die Antwoord isn't on your list?

Surely a mistake, yes?

To be honest I can't stand their music but hey that's just me.

I've been on a kick of newer bands that bring back some of the old styles... Incorporating elements of folk, blues, and other forms in a new twist.

My wife loves The Lumineers especially.

I discovered a great new (ish) band a couple months back from Liverpool called Circa Waves.
I heard a song called Fire that burns and loved it immediately so I had to look them up!

youtu.be...

Now I can't stop listening to their latest album, for 2 months solid to be exact lol

Here it is
