But ultimately a Queen record was like - we want you to have a bit of a holiday.

A rock and roll holiday.

Sure there were politics, but never in your face.

Queen as a band were not political. They were about making money, they were business men. After Freddie died, the guitarist Brian May certainly became political (as an individucal) wrt animal rights. But on the whole you'd eb hard pressed to find a political song in their catalog.

Someone held up I want to Break free as an example. Sort of political, but not really. The base player (John Decon) wrote it as the male perspective of the women's liberation movement. Given the mid 80s when this was written, the Womens Lib movement aws such was established, he was not trying to push any agenda.

EDIT

Also how the hell is this Paranormal related?

It's not, but this is a typical thread for our precious halfoldman. Maybe in his responses to himself somewhere in the thread he will address your question. I want whatever it is he's having when he makes these threads to himself, though.

Queen is a group. Groups are political. Yes.

Again, for a band, Queen was pretty apolitical. They toured South Africa during the Apartheid ban, they were on of the first (if not the first) to go behind the Iron curtain, etc None for political gain, all for monetary gain.

The band, not political, the individuals, sure. In the case of Brian May, very much so. Roger Taylor, meh, John Decon can't tell he retired, and Freddie is sadly Dead.

Music is one of the most powerful political forces around. It can moves one soul in ways that politicians cannot. It transcends time, culture and language.
