My dad , an american man, married a 14 year old when he was 24. He was an alabama farmer at the time.

I'm against it and my father was not a good man.

Just reminding everyone that this stuff isn't just happening in places with sheria law.

I believe any adult man looking at a 14 years girl and wanting to have sex with her is not a good man. No matter how mature she might look or how much she might wanting it too, we adults should know better and should control those instincts.
Of course we don't always do, but at least we have laws to stop this kind of things. Young girls are not a product designed for male pleasure.

This is nice, coming from someone out of a state where the barn animals are used to ius primae noctis, the degree of relationship between every person in the county is 1 or less, and if you come to town and do not have the "Smith's Ears" or the "Jones's Hump", you are an Outsider and to be sacrificed to the Corn God..

This describes about 99% of the middle of the USA to a European.

See how that works?

What the hell are you talking about?

LoL.

Stop actually allowing adults to marry little girls. That's how it works. Everything you said is made up movie land nonsense. Caricature stereotypes.

We don't actually allow child marriage here. In real life.

So what do you do with people being married in another country, under other laws? How do you deal with that?
Can a judge compel them to live separated?

It is a serious question because this case in this thread is about a couple married under working laws (in Syria) and not a marriage under force, as their lawyer in Germany stated, which would be a cause to separate them and put the minor under protection.

Edit:

The BGH stated that the husband's relationship with his wife depended on the effectiveness of the marriage in Syria. This is opposed by the statutory general ban on child marriages, in which the minor is younger than 16 years old. The Federal Constitutional Court should therefore examine whether the effectiveness of child marriage should not be better assessed on a case-by-case basis. Otherwise, the protection of marriage and family as enshrined in the Basic Law, but also the principle of equal treatment, could be violated.

With all due respect:

Sorry to point this out, but the US does allow child marriage (if you are from the US). The current limit is 14. I am personally against anyone under 18 getting married. However, I don't like to see facts distorted.

Please see my sources posed above. II don't want to be redundant.

Until earlier this year, you could marry 13 year olds in NH. They just changed the age to 16 in 2018.

Yesterday, 19-year-old Cassandra Levesque celebrated a huge victory for both common sense and her two-year campaign to raise the legal marriage age in New Hampshire. At one time, the state allowed very young women and men to marry at ages 13 and 14, respectively (we guess the disparity acknowledged that girls mature a little faster?) with the permission of a judge. But local news outlet Union Leader now reports that thanks to Gov. Chris Sununu's signature on HB 1587, the legal age of marriage has officially changed to 16 for both genders with permission from a judge, and to 18 generally.

It seems the consensus here that you can't marry children in Germany, but you can in the US.

Well. That's what I'd call facts.

Child marriage in the United States refers to a marriage in the United States where at least one party is under the age of 18.[1]

Between 2000 and 2015, over 200,000 minors were legally married in the United States.[2] The vast majority of child marriages were between a child and an adult.[3][2] The majority of married children were girls.[2]

As of October 2018, 48 out of 50 U.S. states have exceptions in their laws which allow children to marry (In 2018, Delaware[4] and New Jersey[5] became the first two states to completely ban child marriage). Of the 48 states which allow child marriage, 18 have no minimum age for minors to marry, under certain conditions[6][7], while 32 have a minimum age (ranging from 14 to 17). In addition, the District of Columbia and several US territories (such as Puerto Rico) allow children to marry.[8]

Since 2016, several states have raised their minimum age for minors to marry, or added a minimum age when they previously did not have one.[9]

In many cases, minors in the US are married when they are under the age of sexual consent in their area (which ranges from 16 to 18).[10] In some areas minors cannot legally divorce, leave their spouse, or enter a shelter to escape abuse.[11][12] In 2010 in Tennessee, three 10-year-old girls were married to men aged 24-31.[3] Meanwhile in Alabama, a 74-year-old man married a 14-year-old girl.[2] Both states have since set minimum ages, of 17[13] and 16

Someone should bring freedom and equality to the colonies one day. And we can't even blame the ...what? 1500 migrants with their marriage from OZ for this, can we?

You guys crack me up! Yeah. Let's talk about those evil socialists from Europe and their "oh-so-open" border policies.

Just the old world rearing its head up for one final push before slowly being faded out of existence.

Progression is happening, just much slower with these poorer countries. Such as the immigrants from Syria.

Hopefully one day, no country's laws will support or turn the cheek to female oppression.

You are right. I was going to edit "state" to say country but left it all since technically my state, NY has a limit of 17.

Generally speaking, its frowned upon here. Most states don't allow underage marriage.

But you are right. We do have some holdovers from the 12th century.

Our saving grace is that the federal government isn't trying to nationally legalize what a minority do in their communities.

More like a holdover from the 19th century. My Grandfather was born in 1898. He knew many aunts who were married at 14, 15, and 16. This was in Canada, but still these same thing. Rural Americas!

"The pair, cousins, were married in February 2015 while the man was aged 21 and the girl aged only 14 in a marriage procedure that was done under sharia legally in Syria but was considered invalid by German authorities where the marriage age was 16 at the time."

Wow, but hey, don't judge other cultures...all equal and whatnot.

It seems the human race has splintered, into those progressing forward and those standing still(or going backwards).

Yeah, and the ones on the far left, known as progressives, believe that accepting these radically different cultural traditions is "moving forward" and "shedding bigotry and prejudice".

And they say us conservatives are the ones regressing or refusing to go forward because we do not want this BS in our communities, we don't even want to flirt with it, not even a little bit.

Just think about all the things Lefties support that brutally harms children:

1.) Acceptance & Defense of Radical Islam

2.) Promoting kids chosing their gender and sexual preferences at age 7

3.) Promotion of gay lifestyle at younger and younger ages until we have young boys stripping for money with adults standing around.

4.) Promotion of the "inherently evil white people" myth. I've personally seen my niece and a neighbor boy at different times come home from school crying because of this myth.

5.) Promotion of open border and soft on illegal immigration. Abolish ICE. This helps criminals so much. And harms children so much. In so many ways. Encouraging parents to drag them across the desert so they're barely alive and die in US Custody, nevermind the untold horrors they either experienced or witnessed along the way. Nevermind the human trafficking that relies on weak borders and weak immigration laws. Nevermind the children in the US terrorized by gangs made up of immigrants.

They (lefty's, progressives) like to say things like "US citizens are in gangs too, the illegal immigrants arent the problem". Yeah. They are of the mind that, if we cannot solve a problem 100%, they'd just rather ignore it and let it grow and flourish.

Me? I would say if rapes, violent crimes, etc, could go down by 1% or even just one victim, then it makes sense to enforce the laws on the books, do away with this catch and release nonsense, and let ICE do their damn job. Of course we all know it would go down by more than just 1 victim or 1%.

It's not like I'm asking for some monumental effort. Just enforce the laws and stop obstructing ICE. Stop helping the criminals who harm children.

Is it just a coincidence that everything they do, everything they believe in, harms children? And yet they see themselves as the defenders of children... it would almost be funny if it weren't so sick.

God I HATE progressive liberals...

I used to admire the philosophy of not choosing a side because if you do you are supposedly "falling for" the political system... But politics have changed a lot over the last 10 years, and that no longer holds true. The Leftists are going hardcore and they're supporting evil whether they mean to or not. I suspect not. I suspect in most cases they are being fooled and being used for their kindness, but theres also a sizable portion who at this point are just feeding on Trump Hate and nothing more. But the others, for the most part they just Really Want to help people, help gays feel accepted, help immigrants have a better life... So do I. I just realize the help I/we can give has limits. I'd love if that werent true. But it is. Failing to recognize that only causes big problems.

Also, sometimes you think you're helping someone, by either giving them what they want or giving them encouragement but that isn't always good for them. It usually isn't. So you have to be able to recognize and understand what is and isnt helping someone.

The Progressives think they're helping (for the most part, but a sizable percentage also just hate Trump and want to hurt him and his supporters at any cost including if it hurts the nation) but they're harming children and aiding criminals who harm children. And they're hurting a lot of adults as well.

They know not what they do, but that doesn't mean we have to sit back and let them do it.

Not surprised.

Why? Because it fits your predefined narrative? I suppose the fact it's BS doesn't matter to you one way or the other.

I only wonder when Germany will find it legal to toss gays off of rooftops.

It won't. You'll need to go to Alabama if you want to do that.
