Yeah, but Sharknado and those other Sy-Fy cheesefests occupy different zones in the moviesphere than the Meg does. Meg is at least solidly B grade.

Sharknado and company, while still entertaining when enjoyed in the right circumstances, are more like party movies. They get better with lots of people and a certain amount of booze.

I thought it was terrible. Lots of chinese propoganda in the film.

Hollywood is owned by the Chinese now.

It's to be expected.

I still enjoyed it though. I guess it's those years I lived in Hong Kong.

If you want to see a good shark movie check out The Reef. Probably the best since jaws and its not political.

That's what you took from it?

Personally, I thought it was a LOT better than I was expecting it to be, walking into the theater. I'm a sucker for horror movies, but ESPECIALLY animal-based ones. Mutated shark, extra large gator, evolved spiders, etc., I'm in.

This movie definitely surprised me. I'm no big Statham fan, but I don't dislike him. He fit his character for this.

It also had a really good build up to the reveals of the shark, and that scene in the trailer (with the bite in the glass), is just fantastic.
