The Peace of God to all that belong to the Light,
Dear Readers,

A fragment of scroll that belong to the extensive library found in the Dead Sea valley caves is suggesting that at least some of the Essenes were a well done Pre-Christian community that on the 1st Century BC had extremely clear Prophecies of the imminent arrival of a figure with all the leader characteristics of Christ.

This scroll is linking Daniel Book with the life of a Messiah who is pointing out in a so straightforward way to have the attributes, claims and also sufferings that Theology and Biblical archaeology traditionally gives only to Jesus of Nazareth.

Here is the precise text translation to give you the opportunity to judge by ourselves:

Col. I

1. [ ] rested upon him, he fell befor the throne
2. [… k]ing, rage is coming to the world, and your years
3. […]. . . your vision, all of it is about to come unto the world.
4. [… mi]ghty [signs], distress is coming uopn the land
5. […] great slaughter in the provinces
6. […] king of Assyria [ and E]gypt
7. […] he will rule over the land
8. […] will do and all will serve
9. [… gr]eat will be called and he will be designated by his name.

Col II

1. He will be called the Son of God, and they will call him the Son of the Most High like a shooting star.
2. that you saw, so will be thier kingdom, they will rule several years over
3. the earth and crush everything, a people will crush another people and nation (will crush) nation.
4. Blank (space left balnk in the manuscript) Until the people of God arises and makes everyone rest from warfare.
5. Their kingdom will be an eteranl kingdom, and their paths will be righteous. They will judge
6. the earth with truth, and all (nations) will make peace. The warfare will cease from the land,
7. and all (nations) will worship him. The great God will be their help,
8. He Himself will fight for them, putting peoples into their power, all of them
9. He will cast them away before him, His dominion will be an everlasting dominion and all the abysses

This piece of Text is telling us about a Messiah that is described as:

- A figure of Monarch-Priest with a similar role to Melchisedek
- A Fair Universal King, a world redeemer Messiah, not a nationalist Hebrew leader.
- He will be called with the title of Son of God
- His Kingdom will be announced as eternal an righteous.
- A Generalized warfare on all the nations of earth will cease at his arrival.
- There will be great cataclysms on earth at his arrival.
- He will be worship for many from all the earth.
- He will save many people that follow him and cast away who reject him.
- He will perform wonders, his prayers will always be heard by God
- He will gather a people of God taken from all nations.
- He will be known from his name, it is not a monarch of a long ruling dynasty, but a very singular King in History.

The thread is open to discuss the implications of a scroll that supports the existence of a well organized PreChristians community in Palestine - Israel living less than a century before the official birth of Jeshua Bar Joseph better known as the Historic Christ.

This scroll as evidence of PreChristianism in the Holyland is consistent with other two scrolls we have already discussed here before that also suggest this situation:

- Melchizedek Dead sea Scroll 11Q13
- Messianic Apocalypse Qumran scroll 4Q521.

Someday...ancient records will cause people to speculate that Republicans were actually Pre-Trumpians!

What do you mean, exactly, by "Pre-Christian?" Amything before Christ's death, resurrection, and ascension is pre-Christian.

Were there sects of Jews living in that area who believed a Messiah was soon coming? Yes. Did a large percentage of Jews living in that area at that time believe that a Messiah was coming soon? Yes.

Pre-Christian means strictly talking in Biblical archaeology people that were in someway convinced that a redeemer messiah of the whole humanity sent by God and with spiritual attributes, not just a political liberator leader of the Jews against the Roman Rule, was coming in that timeframe.

In other words the term refers to communities that were convinced from their spiritual traditions that they were living close to his birth and were preparing themselves for his soon arrival.

A Universal redeemer that is called a Son of God is a unique style of Savior proposed by the Christian faith, that does not match with other expectations of messiah that belong to the orthodox jew point of view and fall more in a kind of heroic role.

I read a while back that Jesus and John the baptists would probably have studied with the essens for a while.

Nice topic, went deep into this not too long ago. From what I gathered the Essenes were adept naturalists, living similar to the Exodus style of Moses. Small homes, skilled naturalists (farming, foraging, etc), vegetarians, etc. John the Baptist was the epitome of their movement. John the Baptist was a raw vegan (locust fruit [called St. John's Bread] and honey), which would be similar to an organic chocolate bar by today's standards. The most interesting thing about this, is that this lifestyle was to prepare for the Christ - inside and outside.

Jesus asserts that fasting (John the Baptist style, out in the wilderness, raw food) is helpful to bring Christ to you, whereas once Christ is with you, there is no longer a need to fast Mark 2.

This phenomenon is revealed individually, and eventually collectively when the children of God get their act together. John the Baptist Style living is most conducive for the realization of Christ. Even Jesus went on a 40 day fast, despite requiring no purification. The beneficial effects of fasting are astounding. One google search of "calorie restriction ________ ncbi" where you put a disease in place of the blank, will show that fasting (calorie-restriction) has been scientifically demonstrated to have tremendous healing potential for mostly all disease

Essene Gospel of Peace
^this is supposedly the writings of the Essenes, it resonated with me very well.

the Essenes were separate from Jewish religion & beliefs

the fancied their community and themselves as the Sons-of-Light and outsiders as heathens driven into the darkness as 'Sons of the Darkness'

there is an ancient Gnostic scroll they used as a template for their lifestyles/beliefs--> the eternal battle between Light & dark/ Goodness/evil...

and there is un-substantiated claims Jesus took upon himself to live the life of the Scrolls ''suffering messiah' in a real life drama role & from his voluntary acceptance of the Messiah life role in the Essene community of 'sons-of-light' --->

and thus the mystic and mythic, private mission of Christ was taken over from the Essene cult and adopted by the 'Christian cult' and reframed as a 'Gospel' for the masses & a desert religion was born

(where's the resource material to support the Above?... why Under the Vatican in the vaults & catacombs, they got ya !)

And they asked him in amazement: "Who is our Mother and which her angels? And where is her kingdom?"

I reply, to my understanding the Essenes were Gnostics...and Sophia is the creator Mother & her kingdom is the surrounding Cosmos or the vast span of the heavens particularly this solar system in this Galaxy

If I remember correctly, it wasn't only the Essenes that believed in a Messiah coming. There were many false prophets of the day.

The whole Israel were waiting the arrival of a Messiah, since anyway there were prophecies about him, beginning by the psalms of King David, 1000 years before Christ, but also in the Prophecies of Daniel at the beginning of the captivity in Babylon, about 550 years before him, as well as , in Isaiah ones written by the end of it close to the 450 BC.

Christ in his speeches was pretty clear that a lot of authentic prophets and holy men were taken as false prophets by the Pharisees and Sadducees as false prophets, since that sect was extremely narrow minded and also corrupted.

St. Luke 13, 3-34
33Nevertheless, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day, for it is not admissible for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem. 34O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling. 35Look, your house is left to you desolate. And I tell you, you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”…

St. Matthew 23:37

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!

That intolerance of the dominant classes of Jerusalem and their obsession with the Authority surely is the explanation of why there were monastic communities living far away of their reach, like the Essenes.

Thanks,

The Angel of Lightness

Jesus said, "Fear not, James... But leave Jerusalem. For it is she who always gives the cup of bitterness to the sons of light. She is a dwelling place of a great number of archons. But your redemption will be preserved from them.

-First Apocalypse of James

This is a never-ending theme. This same stuff is going on today, not just in Jerusalem, but in all secularized/compromised authoritarian 'religious' sects. The Essenes eluded this. The first church of Christ was actually an egalitarian commune (Acts 4:32), much like the description of the Essene communities. Why try to commune with God for 1 hour per week when you could commune with him perpetually??? Obviously the latter option has greater benefit.
