Dows the United States have a Soul? - A reason for being that makes it different from other nations?

How about Russia, China, England, France, Germany, etc., etc. ?

What makes nations, their peoples and will different?

OR are we indeed part of a World Wide conspiracy - a so-called New World Order - A power game controled by a hypothetical elite ?

Power struggles, the will to power and elitism of one sort or another are obvious.

But somehow, and after years of studying politial conspiracies, and accepting that there is some truth to them
- I still don't believe they rule the World or its people.

Americans see the world one way, Russians another and the Chinese, English, French, etc. - All have eyes that may have different views,
objetives, wants and desires for the future.

So what makes us different people ? - Why are the Egnlish so apparently willing to accept a socialist nanny state - and many Americans
so against it ?

And the French, Italians, Scandinavians, Poles, Spanish, Africans, etc.. etc. - All have different histories
- How does the past effect them today?

I guess what I'm asking is that if we are in fact products of unique histories - How are these histories affecting us now ?

And asking this question with the hypothesis - That if we are all to get along - Maybe we should first analyze how we are different

The soul of a Nation resides within its HOPE for the future...….America lost all hope during the coup de tat that took JFKs life...this HOPE just might be restored by Trump...maybe we have yet to see.....but it can be reborn stronger than ever.

Why not see if you can celebrate the differences. Being the same as everyone else is boring and leads to a stuffed up society.

We are all different and yet, at the same time, we are all the same.

How big is your group of 'Us'

Even the Economical differences?

Being the same as everyone else is boring and leads to a stuffed up society.

It also leads to a more peaceful society.

We are all different and yet, at the same time, we are all the same.

The only way we are all the same is we all reside on Earth.

How big is your group of 'Us'

As many as I interact with on a given occasion.

Really? - But we too are all different - Some in the USA want an English style nanny state - Others are close to being anarchists.

Lately the pollitcal divide in the US has become wider than ever - Sure all over the world, throughout history,
the political ideolgies of nations and its peoples have varied for many reasons.

Let's look at the past, so we can see why???

Is it all economics - tell me I don't know ?

I think different land areas have "souls", which is why the cultures and the local gods are so varied.

some of the nations you've mentioned have history dating back thousands of years.

now look at the United states' history going back 300 years and you can see why its society is on a deconstructive path and why its so polarized to extremes.

this country was found on genocide, wars, racism, and double crossing other nations.

oh and immigrants, which are now bad

Why emphasize our differences?

Why shouldn't we acknowledge our common ground first? Than at least we have something to build on.

Many nations over thousands of years have fell. History repeats itself many times, because people screw up. This nation started with a Constitution that has made this Nation one of the most powerful in the world. You are right in the sense that we are sitting upon a precipice and it could go either way, yet hope remains in many people that it will go the right way. The way of peace.

Lately the pollitcal divide in the US has become wider than ever - Sure all over the world, throughout history,

The media has been shown for the propaganda machine that it is. Left and Right. More people agree with each other than you believe. More people are good to each other than you would believe. The only places that you will see political sides fighting each other is in places that are being used by far to center sides.

Let's look at the past, so we can see why???

If you don't study the past your bound to repeat it.

Is it all economics - tell me I don't know ?

A lot of it is. The have and the have nots, so to speak. If you only speaking Economical differences.

I think he started the OP to better understand our differences. Not to dismiss commonalities.

I don’t want to be “one”. I like my liberty and individuality too much.

First, you have to quantify what part of XYZ country's social structure constitutes it's "soul" in the first place, and how it's unique enough to define only them.

That's the subtle curve ball that throws people trying to quantify what it is to be American beyond the stereotypical & cliched buzzwords. It gets awful hard to complete that task when you realize many cultural aspects are quite common worldwide (like work ethics, family importance, patriotism, etc) and the rest of them are the equivalent of watered down Chinese knock-offs of the European originals.

It sounds like it's rude, some will think it's baiting, but I'm just being pragmatic & objective.

We wouldn't have kids if that was the entire consensus.

OK. Good point.

OP asks "What makes us different people?"

On an individual scale, and on collective scales ranging from the family unit all the way up to groups as large as nations, the answer is "We all have different experiences based on the time, region, and circumstances of our existence combined with continuously variable influences of both nature and nurture."

The soul of the USA is an angry little child in a police costume who gets mad and hits people and throws things and screams when he doesn't get his way.

Of course they do, it's just different. A nation's 'soul' to me, resides in the citizens nationalism, their pride

What makes nations, their peoples and will different?

Physical enviroment, leaders, etc....all affect people.

OR are we indeed part of a World Wide conspiracy - a so-called New World Order - A power game controled by a hypothetical elite ?

IDK about the whole 'NWO' thing, but its a fact that a select few hold sway over the masses.....Bildaberg (sp?), etc. all make decisions for the masses that benefit themselves. Proof lies in the fact that the majority of the military build-up/war in the 1990's and 2010's-current were b/c Bush & Son-Of-A-Bush owned extensive military/defense contractor holdings. What should have been an easy exercise to eradicate terrorism was drawn out to make them $$$$$.

Just my 2c

Power struggles, the will to power and elitism of one sort or another are obvious.

No? Take a look at the ongoing wars, fortunes being made for a select few to profit at the expense of lives and money.
And dont get me started on the ongoing criminal conspiracy that is the U.N.

Americans see the world one way, Russians another and the Chinese, English, French, etc. - All have eyes that may have different views,
objetives, wants and desires for the future.

Perhaps they just gave up? The USA is still populated by ppl willing to fight. But many nations have simply worn down the citizenry.
We were founded on personal freedoms, and many are still willing to fight for them.
England etal., had a ruling class the merely outlasted the common man.

And the French, Italians, Scandinavians, Poles, Spanish, Africans, etc.. etc. - All have different histories
- How does the past effect them today?

If you cannot figure how the past affects the present, then you need to remember that what you dont learn from, you are doomed to repeat.

I guess what I'm asking is that if we are in fact products of unique histories - How are these histories affecting us now ?

-elected representatives instead of for-life monarchy
-distrust b/t differing nations / cultures
9/11 taught us a LOT

And asking this question with the hypothesis - That if we are all to get along - Maybe we should first analyze how we are different

I personally think it is too late unless we grow some balls. Stop making the wishes of the minority overcome the will of the majority. If the majority of a religion wishes us harm, eradicate said religion. Stop sending jobs overseas, heavily tax those who do.Stop supporting other nations when we need to fix us. No more treaties-if you mean harm to the USA, then no relations with you beyond limited trade.
