The op implied she has no chance because she had no experience and runs on any anti- establishment platform.

Compared to Donald Trump? What experience does this person have? She reads books? Cool, I read a lot, maybe I should be president?

I just pointed out that most people said the same thing about the current president.

No, democrats said that about this president because apparently, to democrats, private sector executive experience isn't executive experience.

Is ATS so sensitive now that an observation like that about Trump triggers instant defensive replies?

You didn't make observations, you made statements in a matter-of-fact way. Hence the reply to your erroneous statements, as well as the question I asked, what was your argument in all of this?

That Donald Trump and a 28 year old socialist who reads books have the same level of experience?

That is demonstrably false.

I never said Cortez had no chance. I did however, try to highlight her campaign promises and how ridiculous they sound to anyone who has a basic understanding of public policy, taxation and economics.

How do we achieve tuition free college for all, a single-payer healthcare system, federal jobs guarantee, abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement? Or better yet, how do you even accomplish half of those things without skyrocketing debt, skyrocketing taxes, and/or new dangers entering our country at an unprecedented rate?

Is that a rhetorical question? The Westboro-Trumpers here don’t take kindly to bad mouthing their lord and savior.

Yep really.

You guys are on par with a religious cult at this point. I don’t see a lot of replies or OP’s that make me think any different.

Lol. Get triggered and dismiss any post you don't like as liberal nonsense, then. What's the point of this site anymore?

You have yet to comment on Ocasio-Cortez, and have instead focused on drawing parallels to the current president and comments about "triggering".

Exactly why I edited Trump-related talk from the OP, and yet alllll of this energy and effort is being spent talking about Trump and left versus right. How about talking about Ocasio-Cortez's political goals/agenda? Any thoughts on that, or just more Trump-bashing?

I stupidly posted in "Politicians and People" forum. It has evidently turned into mud-pit material with members chirping each other like adolescents in a schoolyard. Lesson learned I suppose... people on both sides need to grow up and take some of their emotion/ego out of these discussions.

You think I am analogous to the Westboro Baptist Church people?

Who protested the funerals of my friends?

I don’t see a lot of replies or OP’s that make me think any different.

Abysha made erroneous statements. I replied in a debate and this makes me analogous to a hate group?

Crowley was so much a shoe-in that he didn't even bother to show up to his own campaign. He apparently sent surrogates to debate for him.

He more or less telegraphed his contempt and disinterest in the campaign at every step in the process.

It's not surprising in this atmosphere of contempt for incumbents on both sides of the aisle that he lost.

I doubt her victory has much more to do with it than that, and I really don't see her holding wide appeal except to the "free stuff for all!" crowd.

People love freebies. Problem is when everyone gets them it's the same as everyone buying it themselves. Free does not exist.

I find it highly disconcerting that people are actually gullible enough to think that, in a country of over 300 million souls, it's possible for a federal entity to cater to every whim of every person in need.

Does anyone really believe that to be possible?

Mind numbingly stupid.

Trump has a major reputation as a business mogul
Haha

Has a reputation as a lot of other things too.

Classic cult of personality.
Forget all the negative #. It's fake or don't matter.

He has Over half a century of leadership experience, but he’s inexperienced? Classic delusions.

I don't think a lot of them care so long as they feel like they're getting something and someone else who has more than they do is being hurt to pay for it.

I think we should be concerned when self-proclaimed socialists start grubbing for power. We already know what they want, know that they will engage in legal plunder, and will use the very institutions whom have the monopoly on violence in order to take it.

You know ... there are some very smart people who are severely dyslexic and are never able to read very well. Some of them go on to do incredible things ... including the 2009 Nobel Laureate in medicine.

And somehow we're supposed to treat these people as legitimate in a nation whose entire governing structure is antithetical to socialism.

We live in a world where idiots equate government services with socialism.

She can't be. No experience. Wet behind the ears. An outsider.

Hahaha

Exactly what we have now and you love it.

Figures

Trump is a 77 year old businessman with a reputation as a leader going back decades. How is that "wet behind the ears"?

That's because over time the idea behind government services and socialism has been blurred enough that we have socialism masquerading as government services.
