On my phone, CNN broke it so no links yet.

Wow, I knew he liked to party but didn’t think he was that far gone.

Might have been something he ate?

No problem. Was more to let you know than me being upset.

Sucks!!!

Reckon they’ll tell us that Tony Bourdain didn’t really hang himself? His spotter was busy with the busty French maid and just said ‘f&ck it, I’m jerking off anyhow....’. Rule number 1 of auto-erotica asphyxiation club: ALWAYS have a spotter.

This is breaking alternative news.

On topic.....this is disheartening. Not a perfect man by any measure. But a great story teller, carrying on a tradition dating back eons in humanity.

He was an amazing story teller. His series just came to WV and he did an excellent job. There are few that would portray us correctly and not make us look like a third world country in a bad way. He did the series Justice when he told a story he told the true story.

He was a crazy good writer.

I've given away half a dozen copies of Kitchen confidential to younger chefs.

We were in P-town around the same time. I know where he worked and who he worked for, after the fact, but don't remember meeting him. Which wouldn't be odd given the whole attitude there at the time and how close the community was.

The dude was my hero in a way, not because of his cooking. He captured the life in the kitchen in his writing.

I'm bummed and need to hear more of how he passed.

RIP Chef!

We'll grill some cobra livers someday.

Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his, IMO, best-to-date book, Tipping Point about young teens in some far-flung country ‘suiciding themselves’ in a copycat manner. Maybe, just maybe, there was a ‘suicide contagion’ in the ether following Kate Spade’s hanging? Just spit-balling...

But you’re absolutely right about Tony. It f$cking sucks and I cried this AM!!! What a sh&tty way to start my TGIF mind-set

Man, when we still watched TV, I loved his travel/food show. What an amazing man he was. The stories and his way of telling things about the cultures, good and bad, without bias was so good.

I have to now wonder if the accusation that he covered up sexual misconduct by a chef friend of his and his current girlfriend being seen out in public with another man played a part in this. The timing is too close. He was not in a good place.

RIP parts unknown warrior

The person I feel for most in this is his daughter. She is surely in for a rough time. I lost my father also around that age and being an 11 year old girl is confusing enough as it is. Poor dear, I hope she has good supports.

But on the bright side I hope that she can use all his television and books to come to know his brilliance the way others did and also let it inspire her to find it in herself.

Any news on how he did it? I can't imagine him with a gun. It could have been accidental, like he drank too much, then went to the hotel and took too many sleeping pills or something.

Surely it wasn't over that Argento woman. Taking your life over romance is never, never worth it.
