Well based on this video American gangs are called white trash.




But, on wiki, this is white trash. I'm so confused now. So what is a gang anyways?

I'm familiar with the more local concept of White Trash (whiskey tango) and its variants.

I've not heard of the other use.

Are these gangs of people who are expats or gangs of people pretending to be American (ie acting American)?

lol... I'm fairly sure you Americans totally own the term "white trash".

Not that I'm being judgemental or nothing... I mean, I've personally got no tatts... but if I ever decided to get one, then it would definitely be the words 'white trash' across my forearm.

No, simply living in a trailer park does not make you trailer trash just like being poor and white does not make you white trash.

The two terms are different ways to describe the same type of person, and that type of person has a lot in common with certain people who come out of the inner city ghettos.

No, it doesn't ... no more than simply living in the inner city makes you a the same as certain inner city stereotypes.

It's about behaviors, not simply location of living, and your remark about "owning it" shows you know that very well.

No, it wasn't an insult.

Obviously, I was saying the term "white trash" is traditionally an American term, not that the stereotype is in anyway unique to the US.

btw, 'Bogan' would be the Australian equivalent slang term to 'white trash'.

Being white trash is cooler though... it just sounds like someone who wears nike airs and drives a 20 year old pickup truck... Where as, 'bogan' sounds like someone who's been on the dole their whole life and still wears clothes from the 1980's.

American gangs are white trash? Do the Bloods, Crips, or MS-13 know about this?
