The problem I have is that most people seem to think there is no middle ground. It's either kill all our enemies or get killed. I don't agree with dictatorships like Saddam killing but I don't agree with the US Government either. The way I see it they are both evil, and I'd just as soon celebrate Saddam Genocide day as July 4th, as they both celebrate death in one way or another.

Chebob, hi, and to others,

First off The 4th of July is not to celebrate 'death', per se'. If you are attrbuting 'death' in relation or with regards to 'how' our Independence was gained, please bear in mind that our Independence would not have been gained at all without death and bloodshed. I think history will speak for itself on this matter and, indeed, on a world scale and chronology, Independence has pretty much always brought death and blood shield. This also encompasses "revolution(s)."

My question to this whole topic is this: Why is it always and continuously needed to be proven that the United States is one bad mofo? Is the US perfect? Far from it. Is Democracy perfect? Far from it. Has the US aided in the freedoms of many nations who now belittle and wish to place us on 'trial' or have forgotten that it was the US that aided them in knowing the current freedoms they have and enjoy today? Yes! You can continue to judge the United States as a 'villian', as a 'tyrant', as a 'murder', as a 'bully', as 'misguided', as a 'dictatorship', as 'the root of all evil', or as the current 'Satan, Himself Incarnated', but please bear in mind, that many of the freedoms that this world and its nations enjoy today were a direct or indirect result of young nation. That nation was and is the United States of America!

I, for one, will be hoisting a beer or two to that fact! Not to the death that most certainly always occurs with said freedoms, but to the mere fact that we do enjoy said Freedoms.

Regards
seekerof

Okay seekerof, I might have come across a bit strong. I don't mean to sound arrogant, I just have strong views on killing on the fundamental scale of things.

I know that I cannot answer the question "How Else but violence?", but I still can't bring myself to commend any kind of killing, whoever does it; be it America, Asia, China, UK or Saddam himself, It's not good.

No matter how idealistic it sounds, I still think that the world could survive without the constant war and conquering. Revolutions without high death toll's are obviously imppossible in this day and age, but thats because our governments are violent, which in turn makes us violent, and there's a vicious circle of fighting.

Every human has it in him (or her) to live a life without killing people, it's just that for many countries, USA included, killing has become the only way to get justice, much like the dictatoships, and I can't see anyway out of that cycle now.

Oh well, thats just my opinion, I don't mean to P*ss on anyone elses or the American public, so don't take it personally, please

Hi Chebob, I hope you did not take this wrong and I don't think you did.
But I did want to say that I meant no disrespect.

Your view is your view, really. We are all entitled to our views and beliefs. I respect your view and your feelings as I also try
to do the same with everyone. I am glad you didn't take serious offence to what I said, because after all Chebob, it is your G-d given right to give said view and opinion.

Thank you for responding and your understanding.

regards
seekerof

Lets reverse that a bit.........is there no good in the world not done by America? Its far easier to look at the bad and criticize it then it is to look at the good and praise it!

Indeed. I just didn't want to impose the will of the almighty America onto the unwitting, feeble victims of the rest of the world............[sarcasm font]

Celebrate the 4th dudes!!!
You'd be mad not too.
Who wants to miss out on a party?

I would look at it as not celebrating war or even freedom. Ir's a lot deeper than that.
You're celebrating the very essence of America.
And if you don't respect that then you don't deserve to party with everyone else for the mere fact that nobody likes a party-pooper

If we never bomed the Japan even if it as civilian targets, that war would not have stopped. The Japs would keep fighting until they ran out of supply and swam the Pacific with Samari swords and invaded Californa.

Come on CA we need these wars to stop the madmen like the Commies and the terroists.

JM i never support unjustice, terrorist are not welcome, i do not support them, but men, every thread i have opened about it, every time i get the same stuff about we save europe from the nazis, or the japanese, the story here, that all those who died in war, 80% were innocent people, that had nothing to do with it, and for you those who died in 11-S where innocents, u made a war because of those 5000 people, but when a lot of times there have been killed thousands of innocents nobody moved a finger. That is called hypocrisy...
Anyway i am not going to repeat myself about explaining what i think, u all know very good what i think, there are enough threads that i started related with this matter...

nyeff
You just have eyes for america? Freedom?
Men!!!!!!!!! WTF?????
Maybe you are free to spend the money in what you want, but thats it!

America great country? Well i think the earth is beautiful, nature is nice, and animals and plants as well, but what do u mean with country?
Laws?
Society?
Media?
Because then if u tell me that is something else than nature we will have a long disscusion for it, "your great country" is a tool for people above to make this world a worse place to live, if u cant see that , u cant see nothing....

imagine a terrorist strike on some national monument onn the fourth of july...
can only guess what bush would do after that...
how would you american people here feel about it?

Woe be it to whoever's named responsible (for either doing it, or harboring those named who did it), for they would quickly be the world's largest parking lot.... Saddest part, is that we'd all go along with him, on whomever is named.... Attacking us in the middle of September is one thing, but on the 4th? That's suicide.... We've already made it a pretty bad idea to harbor terrorists....this would surely seal it....

An attack on the fourth would be humiliating to the americans, i think.

if you non-yanks (like myself) think that the US is like a bully in a schoolyard now (no offence intended, i just tellin it like it is on the street), just wait. itll be ten times worse if they get hit on the 4th

ALSO i would just like to say that i resent ignorant yankee W@NKERS who go around saying "WE won dubya dubya 2 by ourselves". first of all if we (the allies who turned up on time for the war) hadnt won at el alamein north africa would have been lost. we fought the japs longer than the US did in burma. Also if the RAF hadnt beaten the luftwaffe at the battle of britain, the allies wouldnt have had a base from which to launch D-Day. and dont forget the other allies: the poles, dutch, french, canadians, russians, chinese, aussies, new zealanders, danish, norwegians, belgians, the yugoslavians, various arabic peoples, etc. I'm not denying that the US involvement was definately the biggest boost to the effort against the Axis but before you shoot ya gob off read a real history book instead of watching BS like that insult to movies 'Pearl Harbour'

If any American over 18 believes that we single-handedly won WW2, they are ignorant.

I was taught in school that WW2 victory was a collaborative affair that the U.S. played the lead role in.....

Well, if we are attacked again, I suppose you will be first in line of the America haters to say Whoop-ee!

Why don't you post something about your own country's history-whereever that may be??

Tyriffic I'd argue we Single Handedly won WW2.

Not because we were the only ones fighting (obviously we didn't do nearly as much as the Soviets).

But because our march was the fatal blow. Because without our March Hitler would eventually have devestated the Russians while keeping the Britts at bay or even destroying the Britts as well.
