Good luck op ATS members are more the stick their heads in the sand type than believe in climate change.
Just like the president.

I don't need a need a new religion, thanks. I have my head firmly in the sand of another one. But whatever your faith, go for it.

Every winter when it is cold someone spouts off something about oh how do you like this global warming??? I think we should
have never used that term, and should have only used climate change (or something similar) from the start. Some simpletons can only understand the term global warming with extra hot in summer, not the weather instability or long term slow climate changes.

It makes me sad for humanity every time I hear it.
I remember in the early 1990's trying to explain the internet to my friends. They just couldn't understand how it works, it was like magic or something. I think many people feel that way about climate change, since they aren't experiencing it first hand (yet) they don't believe it is real. There is so so so so SO much evidence, real scientific evidence, but for some people they just want to be ignorant, what a shame for us all.

Sad, Trump's ignorant tweet on climate change was ridiculous . The sad thing is his followers believe him. He tweets record cold on the East Coast and mocks climate change. Meanwhile we are having the hottest Winter on record in Southern California. Ignorance is Bliss with him and his followers. I now call them followers because that's what they are.
Its going to be 86 in the valley today where I live.

Bold statement,

Or it could be that since we are lied to at every turn and when people pushing the agenda have a vested interest in the rhetoric it kinda makes one slightly less willing to accept VooDoo science...

No one denies climate change, what a good portion of the Patrons here argue is that riding around in a car has sweet f#ck all to do with it and the fact we are taxed to the hilt with "carbon taxes" says something about it...

Clean energy has been around for decades but ask people like Stanley Myers how well it will be received by the monopoly??, you may need a ouija board though....

Of coarse they Had in opinion, but 90% of climatologist tell you global warming is real. Trump and his followers just go along with what they want to believe instead of scientific data. Trump exacerbates their own ignorance.

Global Warming is used during summertime (becuase its warmer).

Extreme Weather is used in winter (because its colder).

Climate Change is the fall back talking point.

Global, Extreme and Change being the operative trigger words.

They are conditioned into us in other ways too...

Globalism , Muslim Extremism, and Regime Change.

What Al Gore and his brand of 'Global WARMongers' don't like to talk about are realities such as dubious data, corrupted data, the Urban Heat Island Effect, the weakness of our instrumental temperature record, politically biased scientists, the flaws & limitations of the computer models, histories contrary to the IPCC assertions such as the Little Ice Age, CERN's "CLOUD" findings, or other concepts such as the roles of sublimation & coal dust in glacier degradation. Now this isn't to insist that the earth isn't warming, nor is it to insist that humans have no cause in these effects. The fact is nobody knows what effects a hypothetical doubling of CO2 would cause, how fast a doubling will actually happen, while the reality is there really isn't much we can currently do about it short of imploding the world economy via hasty response in line with establishing the global dictatorship to enforce it. Never mind the world wars that would cause, just the economics bit alone is a big enough story in that hardly nothing destroys the environment and leads to explosive population increases like poverty. Yet we hear the the global warming alarmists push on about destroying capitalism, labeling climate change as "racist", putting climate skeptics in prison and setting up a world government.
Where are the polar ice caps Going then? They not melting?? The ocean levels have not risen at all? Wow that's all I can say wow!

Well done!

The AGW is the left's version of the right's War on Terror. Although I guess Obama did come to own that one too, except in language! That was the "change".

Just how much has the ocean level risen?

And by what degree(s) of acceleration?

Here's a good summary:

1) is it getting warmer over the last 100 years? - yes, I think most people would agree
2) does this temperature increase represent anything abnormal in Earth's history based on what we know? - no.
3) is man's activity causing this warming? - probably to some extent, but all our models are highly inaccurate and largely useless so we don't know by how much
4) Does it really matter? No - all the climate-induced ELE doomsday porn has been around for decades
5) Are scientists wrong in their predictions on climate? always, often by a large amount.
6) Will paying more taxes and redistributing wealth result in changes to the Earths climate that will save us all? - I'd take a wild guess the answer to that is no.

Of course, Climate Priests and their shrinking flock always boil it down to a more simple proposition, which is you either believe them or you are stupid and anti-science, wrapped up in the 'denier' verbage. After years of failed predictions, this is all they have left to argue with.

I guess, since you say so. I took it as Trump making a joke, but not surprised it triggered the entire left and the MSM. I'll be the first to admit I haven't spent time researching climate change. What I do know is you don't seem to be very knowledgable of the topic with statements like the following:

He tweets record cold on the East Coast and mocks climate change. Meanwhile we are having the hottest Winter on record in Southern California. Ignorance is Bliss with him and his followers. I now call them followers because that's what they are.

Making a statement about a couple seasons being abnormally cold or hot and attributing that to prove climate change is manmade is absolutely ridiculous considering the Earth has had climate change for Billions of years. I dunno maybe you just seen an opportunity to take another dig at Trump supporters, which seems to be all your good at so by all means have fun. But don't claim you have superior knowledge of Climate change and then follow that up with a dumb ass comment.

Maybe its strange to have a warm December in Southern Cal, but looking at historical weather were I live in December 2015 the high was 68 degrees for today, verses the current temp of 34 degrees on December 29th 2017 and last year at this time it was 48 degrees.

So if I use historic temperatures to show a trend in regional weather temps for me its getting colder.

Until you can tell me with verifiable certainty, exactly what percentage man is responsible for with regards to AGW, I'll continue to hold out hope that 90% of scientist haven't factored all the variables in yet and there might be a chance things will not escalate to a giant ball of fire. I have that right since my belief or lack thereof has no bearing on the big picture.

But if you need to feel superior due to failures in your life, who am I to deprive you of that.

You do know that everyday beyond today is a history of the Earth that has never been seen by mankind eyes. To say the weather changing is merely us humans is completely and utterly ignorant. I'm not saying we don't have some kind of hand in all this. Everyday millions of cars are traveling to point b. Manufacturing, agriculture many many others. This is all part of a forever changing Earth and is unavoidable.

I say stop worrying about things you cannot change and accept summers will get hotter and winters colder to the point where one will reign dominate. Ill leave the guessing of future endeavors to those who know absolutely nothing because of past data which in itself is irrelevant. I cant believe we pay people for that.

That's just my opinion and its value is what you place on it.

Well said - what we do know for certain is that scientists are not able to predict what the temperature will be in years to come. We know this because they have tried over and over again and failed every time to get the predictions correct. This means their analysis, models and assumptions are plain wrong.

Give that, it is somewhat amusing that those who don't believe these scientists claims are called cultists, whilst those who continue to have absolute faith in the same scientists are the ones calling anyone who disagrees with them cultists. It's an upside-down world, alright.

But it is acceptable to blame climate change every time a hurricane rolls through or when California has another wildfire?

There are many by products of climate change, one of those is increased intensity in storms. That is brought on by increased moisture in the atmosphere, the jet stream shifting into unfamiliar patterns and change in ocean currents.

Increased moisture in the atmosphere causing wildfires in California?
Southern California is normally dry and normally has had wildfires ..... even before humans arrived to change the climate, start fires or even put the fires out.

Wildfires and forest fires usually cause a cold winter later in the year or the next one.

I'm just going to put this here:
Mike Pence, the US vice president-elect, has said he doesn't believe that smoking kills
www.businessinsider.com...

When my mom started smoking they actually used to say it was good for your health. (we are talking a very long time ago) Yes that is a fact, it was even Physician approved. Many people loved smoking and didn't want to believe it caused harm. But people started to die, get cancer. Over time we realized the devastating health effects smoking had on people. We have more evidence, more studies, but still in this day and age some people don't believe it. I've just accepted some people will never believe.

Maybe climate change will not impact any of us, but I think about our grandkids and future generations. I am an optimist, and I think we can do things to make an impactful change.

It is only natural, after researching, to wonder about the money.

Climate Change Financing sounds like a Big Slush Fund for the UN and their cronies among the ministers of various countries and their "sustainable" programs. (I'm reminded of all the corruption that surrounded Kofi Annan when he was UN Secy. Gen.)

One has to be pretty stupid or naive to think these people that have access to hundreds of billions don't dip, kickback, and abuse programs.

To me, a lot of it is really nothing more than an excuse to move money out of developed countries such as the USA and those in Europe and redistribute it. (This money, btw, is yours and mine....taxpayer dollars we all work hard for.) Our country is in need of some serious infrastructure improvements of our own.

Climate Finance

The capital required to meet projected energy demand through 2030 amounts to $1.1 trillion per year on average, distributed (almost evenly) between the large emerging economies (China, India, Brazil, etc.) and including the remaining developing countries.
