Enough people still pay for it for it to be a viable business.

But the amount of money that the producers and performers make has collapsed over the last decade.

They used to make good money, but now most of the girls in porn are also having to do call girl work on the side to make ends meet.

People still pay for porn. The free stuff gets old. Some people wanna watch more then 5 minute videos. One people pay for porn to watch it "Live". Some people pay for porn so they can interact with the porn star. Yes you can pay $$ to have certain porn stars on a live feed for you to "chat" with

People pay for porn for certain porn stars or couples. So people like to pay to see the same couple having sex over and over and these couples add "exclusive" content and new videos almost daily. Trust me a ton of people pay for porn still. Poor peeps are on porn hub people with $$$ are other places that are very interactive and would blow your mind (and something else too

You ask in part:

"Is pornography black budget promoted for some psychological end?"

At one level we guess, "Yes." Being an old geezer, I've been around since bras were mandatory. The striking thing about porn today is that anal sex is rapidly becoming a standard when it used to be mostly a gay thing. If you create a market standard that say anal sex is good for one and all, then that blurs or eliminates any limit to where you put a sex organ. Along with those practices is that the rider that oral sex also is a standard practice when before it was consider unmentionable. Anybody, male, female, etc. of any persuasion is fair game to be targeted for sexual material. Put these relaxed practices into play for public consumption and the porn producers have greatly increased their audience while lowering the taboo level to be non-existent. A win-win for them.

In a larger sense, like making the word f..k into a throwaway conversational word for everybody as is happening as I write, the whole concept of sex becomes less hidden in a a world society where the intense strangle-hold of (some) religions are falling away not to mention a dozen other former constraints on a free and open society. Least ways, this is my perspective on the emerging, if not liberating, New World Order that has a fully detailed agenda for us. --Is it right or wrong? I''m just an observer.

Also bear in mind that many countries control their citizens' access to the internet, making hard physical format pornography (photos, VHS, and DVDs) hot black market items.

Every year, Hollywood releases roughly 600 movies and makes $10 billion in profit. And how much porn industry makes? 13,000 films and close to $15 billion in profit. The porn industry makes more money than Major League Baseball, The NFL and The NBA combined.

And its actually expected to double as VR headsets become more popular. Interesting side note females earn about 1 thousand per scene males 150.00.

In the UK it's because viewing figures are not collated properly. A select few households have boxes to record their views. These are then used to make viewing figure stats. I think the sample size is less than 10k, I must Google that.

The radio sample size is less than 5k people.

Crazy.

Oh and the BBC extort us for £150 per annum.

There's several billion people on the planet.

Some of them are more than willing to shell out money for porn. Why when they can get stuff for free? I don't have a good answer.

And you got to remember. Porn is relatively cheap to produce. You just need a good camera, lighting and a pc to edit the video.

This has puzzled me from time to time as well. Though I have yet to come to a definite conclusion.

It seems every time I get the urge to look into this, I dive in and research it. It perplexes me such that I have such a intense interest in the topic that I go right to the computer and immerse myself. I'll be switching from site to site, windows side by side, trying to find similar patterns. I'll have 3,4 sometimes five windows overlaying across the screen. I get tunnel vision, and become intensely focused to the point where nothing else matters.

Then, suddenly, out of nowhere I become completely disinterested, end up making a sandwich and then go work in the garage.

It's the darnedest thing.

You might be right!

If you have ever seen the movie Brainstorm they were working on a form of what we would consider Virtual Reality today. One of the guys working on it of course creates a sex tape and then loops it over and over experience just the climax to which I am sure would cause addiction. Another video created nefariously by the DOD can psychologically scar and individual. Basically they were explaining how an MKULTRA project works...

So yeah Free porn...Nothing is free...

Pornography is free and open to anyone with an internet connection.

So how does it continue to be funded and produced on such a massive scale?

Is pornography black budget promoted for some psychological end?

My motto has always been "follow the money" on conspiracy topics but, if everything is free, where is the money coming from?

I've been wondering the same thing.

There are so many sites on the net where one can watch if they choose... for free. No need to pay for anything although here in the Uk I've read the government are going to be ordering porn sites to not allow any entry till credit card info is given to prove the person watching is over 18. That could be a bit dangerous though if you ask me... your private details collected on porn sites... i see plenty of hacking going on. But anyway getting back to the cash end side of things, porn actors still get paid huge amounts I think, so the Producers must be getting paid from somewhere..

What about 'Music' though aswell. Anyone with a brain can go to youtube and download the full version in mp3 or mp4 format, no need to go buy it from spotify!

Too much porn becomes boring after a while..

Maybe the intention is to get whoever watches it so bored by it that in the end they just end up disinterested.

The real question you should be asking about porn in the UK is, why is the government opposed to porn?
Hardcore pornography has been freely, yes freely, available in the Uk for over 30 years. By that I do not mean under age or forced or sex involving creatures. Yet we were told if pornography was to be allowed the country would turn into a sex crime ridden country.
There is not the slightest evidence for this over the 30 year period.
Sex crime statistics per capita have hardly moved at all, less than 1% of the population (and that is still too high a price but it's not fuelled by porn). Yes , we have (especially now) high profile cases. Yet they are in the minority.
