Hardcore pornography has been freely, yes freely, available in the Uk for over 30 years. By that I do not mean under age or forced or sex involving creatures. Yet we were told if pornography was to be allowed the country would turn into a sex crime ridden country.
There is not the slightest evidence for this over the 30 year period.
Sex crime statistics per capita have hardly moved at all, less than 1% of the population (and that is still too high a price but it's not fuelled by porn). Yes , we have (especially now) high profile cases. Yet they are in the minority.

Daily Mail readers and the like can't get their head around other people having sex, hence we get the quarterly story of how school kids have only just now started to be attracted to each other, mail readers are the tory vote base so the upcoming ban on porn is to appease them.

Im pretty sure people pay for porn. There are some hardcore fans of every um hobby/entertainment industry, certainly there are entire citys worth of people who know porn stars by name.

I actually knew a porno producer at one time. They paid girls very well. He also operated a sex shop, where he sold tons of porno tapes. The only reason DVD is the standard video format is because porno sales indicate lazy masterbators have no interest in updating to Blu-ray. Yes, our video format is quite literally dictated by porno sales.

They make far more money then you'd ever believe, and it's PASSIVE INCOME.

Why would they even bother with a hub and spoke pay portal service, when they can go back to creating more porn, some they even star in so it becomes a 2 birds one stone deal.

The Ads are from everything to services lonely or needy men might find interesting, such as penis growing pills and companionship apps, to whomever wants to target those types of people watching porn. It's less about the context of content and more about the types of audience, since that's where the ads are being focused on, since they are highest in the goal funnel of marketing too.

The Porn sites make load of money, just selling the ad space to advertisers, think about that income from all those people watching porn EVERYDAY! 10cents to even a dollar or more depending on the actions involved per person, times 365 days a year. Often when they're chillin on the beach.

Thing is, this model of income, is popular in EVERY Niche, you think porn is big, lol, check out the gaming industry and youtube marketing channels.

Advertising is going the way of Minority Report, and your data is worth a new house over the course of your life, if not more.

Sites like Pornhub literally steal content which they stream for free, then make their own money via ad revenue.
it's not a huuge problem for the big mainstream companies who have all sorts of dvd production deals etc going on, but it's making life a lot harder for independent performers and small studios. which sucks for everyone because it's always the independents who do the interesting creative stuff.
