We’re told the flap began when Trump backer and Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei donated $250,000 but requested that Lopez cool it with the anti-Trump jokes at the Carousel Ball.

He thinks all that money buys censorship , and it does.

Wonder who he payed in the crowd to help rally the audience into booing Lopez?

Yeah, it's annoying that the video starts so late but this is the only copy I found so far but regardless, he wasn't booed off stage. His joke, whatever it was, clearly political, fell flat but that's the life of a comedian. Happens all the time, even to the best. And this wasn't even a club, just some kind of charity dinner. So at the end of the day, this is a non story.

Yeah, I will say it: I have always considered that George Lopez is a racist.

It is more than just political.

He makes latinos look like idiots.

how about the charity take some responsibility know who their biggest backers are and hire an appropriate act/emcee for their fundraiser

In some ways I agree with you but, maybe just maybe a comedian at a charity function should think about the charity. Not a bright idea to anger the donors no matter what their political persuasion might be. Wallets tend to snap shut when people are angry. That goes for both sides of the political aisle. Don't make jokes about Democrats or Republicans. You are bound to pi$$ off a potential donor and the charity suffers because you just had to go there and couldn't leave it alone.

Read my subsequent posts. I actually said the charity made a mistake by having Lopez as the emcee and should have gotten someone else.

You only get a racial debit card if you match the race you are stealing from, deprecating, and they love you regardless, because you are one of their own.

I think the racial debit card works for any person of color. If I recall correctly, Latinos and Blacks seem to be able to talk about one another as well, within reason. And of course they talk about white people.

If done properly, the racial debit card can be used in some cases by white people.

Jeff Foxworthy makes fun of Red Necks. It seems to me that's as racist a subject as George Lopez uses. Isn't it? Red Necks and Hillbillies stereotypes taken to the extreme are funny.

To me, he is an uncle tom. That's the worst sort of racism, but it's somehow embraced.

One man's Uncle Tom is another man's favorite celebrity.

Harry Belafonte called Colin Powell a "House Slave" in 2002 because he was working for George W. Bush. I was not a fan of "W" but I felt General Colin Powell was the best example of a black man that had risen to the heights of the white man's world. Someone to be revered and imitated.

Do you consider those other comedians who banked on racial stereotypes to be "Uncle Toms?" Or is that label reserved just for George Lopez?

George still thought Trump was good material, along with white privilege and racist jokes about the boarder wall being built. Cheap jokes for a very expensive charity event- $5,000-$100,000 per table. Know your audience.

We’re told that Lopez responded to Maffei, “Thank you for changing my opinion on old white men, but it doesn’t change the way I feel about orange men.”

Trying to recover and sensing the audience turn, Lopez said, “Listen, it’s about the kids . . . I apologize for bringing politics to an event. This is America — it still is. So I apologize to your white privilege.”

We’re told Lopez also told a joke about Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico, saying, “I guess you can get some Mexicans to do it cheaper and they wouldn’t crush the tunnels ­underneath.”

George said he did his routine, but sources at the event said he was escorted off stage.

Tried mixing Mexican alcohol with 20th century American literature last night. Ended up with tequila mockingbird.
