I'm not sure where to put this. Mods please move as necessary. Thanks.

While this is related to a dream i had... this is also a medical idea or potentially something that could or will be invented.

Uplink is a technology that in my dream was being tested in Barton and Ellis Counties in Kansas.

Both Hays and Great Bend are small towns and one has a university while the other has a community college, but they'd be perfect for something like Uplink experiments.

In any case, Uplink is both a medical database which contains patient records, medical journals, case studies etc as well as being something akin to the devices used in the Matrix by Neo and gang to plug into the virtual world.

Uplink allowed doctors from Hays to treat patients from Great Bend and vice versa. The whole idea being that a specialist in Brazil can treat a patient in Hong Kong.

I didn't witness its use, only listened to a lady friend who was one of the doctors able to use it.

Anyway she explained how it was used for diagnostics and it made xrays, mris, etc obsolete because the Uplink provided the doctor with a holographic view of the body and they could in essence walk around inside the patient via the Uplink. Once the issue was found, they could then use the appropriate treatment by sending a holographic version of the doctor to the patient. The holographic version would be controlled by the physical doctor and basically utilize some massive VR tech which honestly is way over my head.

Anyway... what do you think? Could this eventually be the medicine of the future or is this just a dreaming fantasy like flying cars?

Maybe.. i have some crazy ones true. But i just wonder with how much our technology has advanced and will advance if this will actually be something we see?

Granted the actual holographic/VR part would probably not work out the way it did in my dream because it seems more complicated than necessary.

We already have "tricorders" essentially so that tech is currently in its infancy. As is the VR/holographic part.

The medical database part can't be too far off base as everything gets more and more centralized.

Still a very crazy mix of real and fantasy

I had a friend of Mine insist that all entertainment was just reality in another dimension. I usually just found it amusing.

Your dream has been a reality for years
Lots of doctors around the world feed data into "the cloud" to try to better diagnose ans treat conditions
One example - IBM's Watson. Thats exactly what its use is now. The specialty - the cancer field.

I didn't know that.. i don't keep up much with medical technology.. that's really cool though

Only reason i know of the "tricorder" is because someone posted it here. There are many things i'm interested in but usually medical technology isn't one of them. I suppose one of the reasons my dream stood out to me.
edit on 13-7-2017 by AkontaDarkpaw because: (no reason given)

And , there is a form of "hologram" . A projected 3d image showing the affected area.
Peace

My docs all carry around laptops and use them - and since I carry my own computer along to my appointments, I see a lot of this kind of usage. My records are shipped between GP and cardiologist and it's actually a very nice situation.

I have the advantage of being able to afford medical plans with organizations that are pretty current on their technology (I pay through the teeth for it, mind you, but they're current.)

And let's not forget the ability (by patients and by medical staff) to actually 3d print things (lie a print of the heart or brain of the patient.)
