Not by a long shot, no. A small number aboard any given installation will be armed, but the majority of them will not have weapons or even necessarily easy access to a weapon.

Thanks for enlightening me

They do here.

The Arsenal has many more civilians than military, though. It's a massive research installation. The Sparkman Center alone is 84,000 square feet. It's tightly connected to UAH as well... a large number of the students work there.

This really feels like it's a drill. I hope I'm right.

It reads on that Live Link " This is NOT a drill..."

The link is from the local news agency (scrolling info at the bottom)

Wait... who thought opening fire on a MILITARY installation was a good idea? Outmanned and outgunned?? Let's give this shooter a Darwin Award!

It worked out like a turkey shoot for Hasan Nidal at Ft. Hood.

Turns out that no one was allowed to have guns with ammo in them on that base.

With the amount of "official" response and no info???

Something stinks here!

Not sure exactly what...

Any important people there today??

Just called my son...still on lockdown, no suggestions he has heard about being moved out.

Cell signal was awful iffy... definitely not normal. He's usually clear as a bell at work.

Well the news coverage has devolved into repeating the same thing over and over again so I'm out. Will check ATS for any updates instead.

Important people are there every day.

I'd guess 90% of the technical stuff we talk about on here is in some part developed at Redstone Arsenal. It's the Area 51 of the South.

Redstone Arsenal Wiki

Redstone Arsenal remains the center of testing, development, and doctrine for the Army's missile programs. Besides the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command, Redstone houses the Tactical UAV Project Office, Redstone Test Center (RTC), the Missile Defense Agency, the Missile and Space Intelligence Center, and other operations.
After operating as a tenant on Redstone Arsenal for over half a century, the Ordnance Munitions and Maintenance School was moved to Fort Lee, Virginia.
Redstone Arsenal continues to host the Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA's field center for propulsion analysis and development, which developed the Saturn rocket family in the 1960s and propulsion systems for the Space Shuttle in the 1970s and '80s.

In case anyone was wondering what this place is about. (I was)

I'm probably just jaded but that gets said every single time and is never actually true. Cautiously skeptical about it.

Yeah, WAFF just confirmed the cell signal situation.

Prayers for all, friend.

Well, that explains my son's poor signal earlier... cell signal has dropped inside the Arsenal.

Just speculation, but could that be to prevent multiple assailants from communicating with each other?
