But nonetheless and despite what you have brought up major religions have justified murder in the name of those (God) who have made clear not to kill.

To figure out how many people die every minute, we need to divide the number of minutes in a day into the daily starvation death tally. With 1,440 minutes in a day and 21,000 deaths, approximately 15 people die every minute from starvation.

factcheckinginjusticefacts.wordpress.com...

Have you ever run a search upon "Genocide and major religions"?

So your implying Hitler would not be forgiven? So where specifically is the proverbial line?

Seriously, this is Philosophy and Metaphysics Forum and so based upon your philosophy when specifically does one become a dirtbag sentenced to eternal hell?

Perhaps, in reality, the real problem with modern organized religion is that it does not do everything it can to stop
things like that from happening.

Would you not agree???

I didn't really mean to imply that hitler isn't forgiven. But he can't stay hitler if he wants to be forgiven. One has to be more like Christ. The more Christ, the more forgiveness.

This might seem unfair but you can't reinvent the wheel, you can't improve upon perfection. Optimus Maximus. Best and greatest, not to imply that Christ is Jupiter or Zeus but I think it fits.

That is more my line, Deity without religion. I try to connect direct.

I'm pretty sure that isn't really acceptable in today's society. Maybe i'm a throwback. I think I'm a throw forward.

I didn't use to be this way AT ALL but i've had some struggles and this is what rose to the surface.

Christ came here, to us, as a man, to pay the ulimate sacrifice - for our sins, for all time.

For sins yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

It's not religion.

It's not dogma.

It's believing in a man who was and is God - who gave His life if only you believe.

And when you do believe?

You inherit everlasting life.

No more pain, tears or sorrow.

Just believe in Him. The Son of God. And you are saved.

It's no more simple or profound, than that.

And as it says in the scriptures.

Only a fool says there is no God.

Take refuge in Him.

There is no ever lasting refuge you can get than that.

right on to that.

I think I got this wrong. Like silo13 said, all you need to do is believe and trust in Christ to be saved. I meant I guess that the more attuned to Christ one is, the more aware one is of this state of grace.

Look up and then look to what is looking!!
Saint Francis of Assisi said 'We are looking for what is looking'.

What is said to be all 'seeing'?

Christ is the light of consciousness (this that is appearing here and now).
God is seeing the light that is appearing here and now.
Christ and God are not two - the father and son are one.
There isn't anything other - in fact there isn't any thing at all - just this that IS.

I have never heard this quote. What does it mean? Your explanation is clear but all the same I need to think about it for awhile.

Thanks very much for this very compelling and new idea.

What seems relevant it to look within...and in so far as what appears beyond within?

IMHO forget that.

Any thoughts?

So don't worry about doing anything immoral or illegal you will be forgiven and go to heaven as long as you accept Jesus as your saviour.

The correct wording would be "If you truly accept Jesus as your saviour, you will not WANT to do anything immoral or illegal; But if you slip, you don't have to worry - you can ask forgiveness and strive again to do better".

I understand that but nonetheless and not only historically how this is interpreted has resulted in violence, slavery, and abuse. To be specific it relates in general to the term Demonization as well as claims of inferiority made by some in relation to others. It's not just a with Christianity or for that matter any particular race, creed or color, it's a systemic problem related to humanity.

I thought this was good when you originally posted it. I didn't say anything then for some reason or another but every time I scroll through here i see it and its like a diamond in the rough.

The intensity that you manage to invoke and the symbolism/metaphor or whatever for mystical experiences/ feelings that you are able to put into words is pretty awesome.

Sorry to mention it only 4 months later...

When you think of God, you shouldn't think of it as I am here, and he is there.

You should realize that God is the desire you have that all other desires are paltry substitutes for.

Your multifarious lesser desires and guilts will never adequately cover this need, this want.

This lack is what causes you hurt

yep, but's not causing hurt

what, then? I say lack itself is hurt, not to mention all the conditions of pain that inevitably rise from it.

oh duh. "We are looking for what is looking." Meaning we are looking for ourself. We already are what we are looking for, so no amount of looking will find it.

He communicated a more profound message than that but its the best I can do.

Great video!
