Pope Francis in Fatima compares the saved Church to the Manchild of Revelation

Pope Francis made reference to the Manchild of Revelation 12 and John under the cross as both representing the saved Church...then he speaks about the rapture of the manchild compared to the light coming thru the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima...

According to the belief and experience of many pilgrims, if not of all, Fatima is more than anything this mantle of Light that protects us, here as in almost no other place on earth. We need but take refuge under the protection of the Virgin Mary and to ask her, as the Salve Regina teaches: “show unto us… Jesus”.

It is good to know we are included inside the image of the Manchild of Revelation 12 awaiting our own snatching away to heavens...does it mean pope Francis announces a kind of a modern "rapture theory" that includes the apparition of Our Lady in Fatima and the light coming from her?

In anyway, no other pope I know of have ever identified the image Manchild of Revelation to the common faithful, only to Jesus and to his mystical rebirth in the believers. This latest move of pope Francis opens the door wide for interpretations of Catholic eschatology, where does the 1bln member church stand in its understanding of the End times. It is due to have an urgent update of the Catholic position that until now drags legs behind the protestant/evangelicals.

my interpretation below: the Manchild (we the believers) are taken on a spaceship city before the doomsday

"Protection" does not always require physical removal (especially if seen in terms of preservation from temptation), so the Pope's use of the word does not necessarily commit him to any "removal" theory.

Must be a lot of excitement over this fall if the Pope is using it too.

it depends on your interpretation. Here the pope compares the protected ones NOT to the woman fleeing into the desert, but to the Manchild. The first to do so in the Catholic church, as far as I know.

The previous interpretation (Catholic) was that we all should give mystical birth of Jesus - that is the manchild. Seems that mystical interpretation although true in its essence, now steps aside to give room for something more real one.

As we know, the Manchild is raptured, and that puts the start of the war in heaven (or should we say war in space). Only after its victorious end the dragon is cast down to earth and the persecution of the woman starts. It is strange why the dragon doesn't attempt to eat up the woman still pregnant. he just stands by and waits. My suggestion, and I underline it is just suggestion, his intention is not literally to eat up /kill the manchild, rather to seduce him to turn to the dark side...(any analogies with popular films sagas?) Therefore he needs the manchild alive not dead.

Seems the only viable escape from temptation of such great magnitude is to run away, as far as God's heaven, as Revelation 12 tells us. Otherwise, God's plan in the image of manchild risks to fail, as the failure of our great grand parents in the garden. And because God cannot be caught up in surprise, therefore His plan not ours, of the snatching away the manchild.

I am thankful to pope Francis he said that, he clothed that idea with the words of his authority. If you browse my threads especially those of the manchild, I say quite a bit of it. Although I never assumed it were we, because it wouldn't be humble from my point of view. And now, we get it officially from the pope, on the solemn anniversary of the apparitions of Mother of God...What will happen in 5 months with Her miracle of the sun? And with those who have consecrated themselves to her? Just to be martyrs? Actually it would be good for the persons, but not good for the bigger plan.

It seems to me that the key words for understanding his interpretation are "God's light dwells within us... the mantle of light that protects us". His idea appears to be that we are protected "in place" rather than taken away.

No, that one is just a case of distancing himself from a particular set of modern visions.

The "Lady" is Mother Earth and the light radiating from her is the light you see that reveals the world around you.

Christianity makes reference to light all the time and how it is God yet Christians never recognize the light right in front of them. They see the light but do not perceive it.

The Virgin Mary represents Earth, something that never had sex yet spawned life anyways. All this mystery surrounding religion can easily be resolved by relating the stories to aspects of life itself, what we're experiencing right now.

Mother (Earth), Father (Time) and Son (Mind), the product of this Trinity being what we experience right now which is light and life.

People need to wake up to the sham that is religion, it's only a tool used by those in power to close our minds off from the truth. How? By threat of eternal punishment. Love is not made perfect when fear is part of the equation.

Not exactly. Next day the SECULAR media announced of the miracle. The secrets the words of Our Lady were not disclosed before 1941 even the known part.

The case is far from closed, even by the standards of those Catholics who assume all the secrets were told by year 2000. Popes have spoken otherwise. The case will be closed when we arrive at the Era of peace, with or without chastisement. And what we have cannot be even close to the Era of peace.

NO!!! the son-of-man (Dutch: mensenzoon) not manchild, don't think manchild is the correct translation of the Koine Greek, let me check with my specialist (who is on Holiday for a couple of weeks right now) anyways we protestants believe its (OK lets say manchild) The Rapture, true believers / true Christians taken out of this world at once, before the misery of the 7 Trumpets starts (we call that The Great Tribulation)
