Pres Trump wants to have NASA astronauts on Mars within his first term, or failing that his second term. Pres Trump was on a call to astronaut Ms Watson who just set a record for staying in space, 534 days.

www.telegraph.co.uk...
Donald Trump instructed Nasa astronauts to get to Mars within his first term - or failing that, his second term, in a livestream with Peggy Whitson.

He was calling up the Space Station to congratulate astronaut Ms Whitson for her record-beating stay in Space: she's been up there for more than 534 days, which was the previous record.

Trump appears to have changed his mind on when he want "boots" on mars. He first signed a bill for a landing in the 2030's now he wants that to be moved up to his first term or at worst his second. That is a tall order, and will take lots of $$$$$$$$.

Appearing to forget he had signed a bill directing Nasa to send astronauts to Mars by the 2030s, Mr Trump asked: "Tell me, Mars, what do you see a timing for actually sending humans to Mars?"

Politely, Ms Whitson replied: "Well, I think as your bill directed it will be approximately in the 2030s".

Mr Trump said: "We want to do it during my first term and at worst during my second term so we want to speed that up, OK? "

Maybe the President of the USA knows something that we don't...wait for it...near earth objects. Or, something else.

How does he plan on doing this when most assets and attention will be on the war? It's coming and this Mars thing will be put on the backburner in favor of wartime. Hope I'm wrong.

Takes a lot of something else Trump don't have.

TIME.

They'd have to leave now

Maybe the President of the USA knows something that we don't

Or, he knows very little about what it takes to put people on Mars.

No war, in another month or so this will all be over. N. Korea under a Chinese puppet, S. Korea back to normal minus THAD's, China selling Walmart lots of goodies and the US smilingly happy. 2018 elections fill the Senate with a total of 62 Republican Senators. BTW, Lil Kim working in a Chinese Nike factory.

The technical challenges are far greater.

The Moon is three days away. Mars is 6 months away. For starters.

Very accurate and logical.

The cheap goods got to flow, right? After all the posturing what you described is a very likely possibility.

Or he has had in depth meetings with NASA and they are on board with Trump/s timeline. And the technology we know about is a sliver of what NASA has not on the drawing board, but on the launch pads.

Well P.

I guess it's a real challenged to say ' Hey Nasa Take Us to Mars'.

The complexity just boggles the mind!

Or, he has no idea what he's talking about. As usual.

Right. All that super secret science. We don't need no stinkin' rockets! Radiation? Pfft. Easy peasy.
