Bodies floating in the Hudson River certainly are not a surprise or anything new. Finding a judge dead, let alone floating in the river are certainly questionable circumstances in anyone's book though.

Sheila Abdus-Salaam, America’s first-ever Muslim woman judge and the first African-American female to serve on New York’s highest court, has been found dead in New York, police say.

The 65-year-old judge’s body was found floating on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River on Wednesday, just a mile from her home in central Harlem. She was reported missing since Tuesday. Officials said the body showed no signs of apparent trauma or injuries.

“As the first African-American woman to be appointed to the State’s Court of Appeals, she was a pioneer,” he said. “Through her writings, her wisdom, and her unshakable moral compass, she was a force for good whose legacy will be felt for years to come.” New York Mayor Bill de Blasio also grieved the judge’s “tragic passing,” calling her a “a humble pioneer.” Also mourning Abdus-Salaam’s mysterious death was state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, who described her as “an inspiration.”

Police said they were investigating the matter while the medical examiner tired to determine the judge’s cause of death.

Officials have not ruled out the possibility of a hate crime.

That is truly unfortunate. This woman seemed to inspire quite a lot of admiration for many people. May she RIP. They need to bury her before Friday.

The police don't even have a cause of death yet and the media already is talking about a "hate crime"

NYpost says it appears to be a suicide.

Lots of speculation already.

well to be fair, it says officials are the ones who have not ruled out hate crime. But a suicidal judge who inspires the world?? I just cannot fathom it. Maybe the husband needed the life insurance $$ for all we know.

It sounds to me like some "journalist" asked if the police suspected if it was a hate crime, since a COD hasn't yet been determined of course the police can't rule anything out.

The media trying to inject divisiveness into everything .

Successful 65-year-old found floating in a filthy river.

Nope ... nothing suspicious here. Let's just make sure we get rid of the body by Friday.

When a judge ends up drowned in a river, the one thing you can be pretty damned sure of, is that something foul happened. Whether it was suicide or murder, both these things are foul play, either hers, or that of another individual.

No matter who physically put her there, something bad happened, and someone needs to figure out what, pronto.

Did she have any possible tenuous connections to Obama or his wife or office? If so then she was wacked to ensure her silence!

She is Muslim. Their custom is burial within 24 hours of death. How fast can one do an autopsy? Being American though I doubt they are going to follow that custom, especially being a damn judge.

Hmmm...and being older and looking pretty frail, no way it could have been an accident? You know, because no one ever falls in water and accidently drowns...

A. Scalia didn't have an autopsy, they just cremated him and burried him within a few days..

/smirk..

I won't be surprised if the same is done here..

Just like a few people who fall out of windows or off of balconies. Im thinking assisted suicide here.

Same thing occurred to me, but she was a NY State Court Judge, not Federal. In her case, any politically-motivated conspiracy theory would probably have to begin with the Clinton's who are already known to have left a trail of corpses in their wake that would make Pol Pot proud.

I'm surprised an investigation hasn't been opened.

Look at the cases that she's been working on recently and maybe you will have your answer.
