Wait provoking the Russians is a bad thing?

Since november I have been feed a daily dose of how bad the Russians are for hacking our election.... and how this was a very very bad thing .... and how we had to do SOMETHING about those pesky Russians.

But wait now it was a big mistake to provoke the Russians?

Do you realize they can wipe usa with their nukes? Diplomacy and economical sanctions are one thing. Total war with Russia is another.

Neither issue raises to the level of nuclear war. The Russians received a one hour heads up to clear their troops from the base. The Russians could have used their very advanced S-300s and S-400s to counter that cruise-missile event. They didn't.

So we where supposed to do something about Russia, but not anything that really matters?

Maybe we should have sent them a strongly worded letter.

"Dear Mr Putin. It was a very bad thing you did trying to hack our elections, your a very very bad man.

Ps. Please don't use your nukes on us, we tried to be balanced in this response to you. Thank you."

The tomahawk cant be stopped by their air defense system even if they would have moved the s300 trucks there. I believe the tomahawk fly at less than 15ft high from ground.

Well for sure they have showed the world over and over again that they can not be conquered.

Well perhaps they should parachute in Wolf Blitzer,Anderson Cooper and Charles Krauthammer...at least that would constitute the first attempt at war correspondence since Vietnam.

I don't think that's a good idea. If I'm going to die I'd much prefer to have accurate coverage of my final days.

I'd disagree. They wouldn't have to move the trucks there. That's likely where they'd park them in the first place. Air base defense. Russian air defenses are advanced. Numerous ways curvature of the earth can be negated. Data link to satellites and their versions of AWACs.

I'm not saying they'd get them all. At least degrade the attack.

They may not be able to be conquered,

But the US was instrumental in forcing the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and thus, Russia, as a world superpower.

A humiliation Russia, and In particular, Putin, has not forgotten and is arguably eager to avenge,

With decades of interest.

In deed, in studying history you will note that Russia has started many wars and invasions. Even since the early participation with Hitler to calve up Europe when Russia attempted to invade Finland and successfully occupied the Baltic states, then invaded Poland with Hitler, and so on through the 1940s, 50s, 600 etc, right up until the recent invasion, occupation and annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.

Russia is a problem country because of its nuclear arsenal. Apart from that it is a developing country, quite poor, with an economy the size of Italy's and becoming increasingly autocratic with high levels of corruption, control of the media and censorship. They have few influential friends on the world stage.

Russia contrives provocation because that's all they can do.

That's an adaptation to cold. An easy test to see if Russians have Asian ancestry is a test of the SLC24A5 gene. Asians exclusively have one type of it and Europeans exclusively had another type of it. Russians have the European type, proven they have no Asian genetics.

Only if you attempt to invade Russia in the winter.

Russia loses wars too, just look at the Winter War when they invaded Finland. Russia knows attrition; not necessarily war.

Very sad the levels people go to blame anyone other than the people doing the killing. The Coptic Christians in Egypt are being terribly persecuted by religious fanatics who cannot , and will not, accept that people of different faiths can co-exist.
